Abigail & The Snowman (Abigail and the Snowman) Kindle & comiXology

3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars 7 ratings

Eisner and Harvey Award-winning cartoonist Roger Langridge (Thor: The Mighty Avenger, Snarked) takes readers on a heart-warming journey of loyalty and friendship. Abigail is a nine-year-old with a huge imagination but when she and her dad move to a small town, that imagination only makes it harder to fit in at her new school. All that changes when she meets a loveable and sophisticated yeti named Claude who has escaped a top-secret government facility. Abigail and Claude quickly become best friends, even if no one believes that he’s real. The fun can’t last and it’s not long before the mysterious Shadow Men chasing Claude are hot on his trail. Collects the complete limited series. “...exactly the kind of all-ages entertainment anyone familiar with Langridge’s work would expect, and even those new to his cartooning will find a delightful and enjoyable comic nonetheless.” - Comic Book Resources

AM
3.0 out of 5 stars It was just OK, maybe not for tiny kids.
Reviewed in Canada on August 29, 2019
We mostly enjoyed the comic as a family, but it seemed very luke-warm. The story itself is very cliche and generic (an invisible escaped yeti that the government is after). I picked this up after trying to find a comic for my kids (4, 6, 9). I'm unclear what age group this comic targets, but don't think I'll get #2.

Has some questionable themes (*Spoilers):
- Her Dad lost his job, he is currently unemployed and making it work as a single parent
- References to Yeti being captured and experimented on
- The government painted as evil, with the only intent weaponize Yeti's powers to "kill more people"
- Bad guy breaks into the house, points a gun at a kid
- Dad knocks out the bad guy with a frying pan
- A bad guy then knocks out the dad with his fist

While none of these parts are super graphic, it just makes for a very scattered experience and smaller (5 or younger) kids might struggle with some of the concepts. Don't bubble wrap your kids but know this comic has some older themes you will have to explain to your smaller ones (which isn't always a bad thing).
