Laura Kinney's greatest battle so far has been fought, and won — but at what cost? As she and Gabby attempt to move on with their lives, her predecessor's legacy continues to cast a long shadow. Laura is the Wolverine, but is she ready to meet this reality's new arrival, Old Man Logan? He's stepped out of a dystopian future into our world — and he's about to bring a lot of carnage Laura's way. But when a new CIVIL WAR divides the Marvel Universe, will these past and present Wolverines stand together? Or will they shred each other apart? And when the superhuman conflict puts those dearest to her in harm's way, can Laura remain the hero she's fought so hard to become — or will she finally succumb to her dark destiny?

While the first volume of the new Wolverine series was good, this second volume was an absolute blast. Picking up the adventures of Laura (formerly X-23, now the new Wolverine) and her younger clone Gabby, this second volume mostly deals with the impact of Logan's life on Laura and the legacy she is attempting to honor with her new role. The first issues are mostly light hearted and comical with Wolverine teaming up with Squirrel Girl for a quick heart to heart and later teaming up with SHIELD, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel to tussle with Fing Fang Foom of all characters. The series continues its winning formula of honest, heartfelt moments (such as Laura reliving the times Logan would leave her behind when she considers sending Gabby away) combined with solid dry humor (Laura's general reactions to the quirky world of Squirrel Girl). The latter half of the book is the titular tie-in to Civil War 2 (a Marvel event I have to say I don't like in the slightest). If you aren't a fan of Civil War 2 or if you aren't caught up on it, you can still enjoy this book. Wolverine doesn't really get involved in the larger Civil War plot between Iron Man and Captain Marvel so much as she tussles with SHIELD and Captain America when they attempt to stop one of the Inhuman Ulysses' visions of the future: in this case a violent act from Old Man Logan. I also am not sold on Marvel's choice to bring Old Man Logan into the main timeline (it feels like a cheap cop out after the regular Logan's death). However, his usage here was great as Laura shares those same doubts and struggles to see her "father" in this feral stranger from a different world. Overall this is a slam dunk book and the perfect exploration of a "legacy" character taking up a mentor's title.

This is one of the most well written comics I have read from Marvel Comics in a long time. I gotta say I wasn't on board with Laura taking over as Wolverine but I'm glad i was wrong about it. Gabby and Jonathan the actual wolverine are great editions to the wolverine family.

Taylor's characterization of Wolverine is strong albeit seemingly aimed at a younger audience than the X-23 books were. Old Man Logan's characterization seems off from his other incarnations and that is distracting. Marvel's tendency to cross EVERYTHING over constantly, however, seems to be a problem in their post-2014 titles and often makes an otherwise simple, even borderline silly, arc have too much dependent on not only outside comics but comics outside of the entire X-book line.

I am really enjoying the All New Wolverine series. I have read almost every comic book where X-23 appears and these are some of my favorites. I really loved Phil Noto’s art style but the art in this series is great too, and the writing is fantastic.

An action packed page turner. Dialogue is a blast, especially Gabby's wit. Artwork is beautiful. Love the team up of Laura, Gabby, and Old Man Logan. Even better than Volume 1.

Good writing! While not my prefered character design I still enjoyed the art and the story. Hope that Laura stays strong in the marvel universe.

After doing the setup in the first volume Tom Taylor now has everything to play with. Laura Kinney, female Clone of Wolverine Logan, has grown since she joined the X-Men, and Gabby, her peer clone from volume one, is more than just a sidekick here, she evolves into one of the most original creations of latest Marvel history. The balance of outraging humor and deadly drama delivered here is rarely seen in comics, but this is just what defines comics I guess. And the second arc is one of the more intelligent contributions to Civil War II, philosophically questioning the actions of Captain Marvel and her followers, but working as a standalone story too. The art is done by Marcio Takara and Ig Guara, and I like it even better than Lopez’ pencils in volume one. But this is a matter of taste.
This volume contains #7-12 of the All-New Wolverine series. Why the annual, which continues from #7, is not in it, the gods or the editors may know. But it is not necessary to follow the story.
Recommended to whoever likes a solid adventure story with humor and drama. Oh, and Squirrel Girl.

4.0 out of 5 stars Buen tomo, el arte deace un poco pero: buena compra al final.
Reviewed in Mexico on January 8, 2018

5.0 out of 5 stars I love the first volume of All New Wolverine
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 19, 2016
I love the first volume of All New Wolverine, and I really love this one. I can't read it often enough. Laura Kinney as Wolverine is one of the coolest decisions by Marvel in recent years. The relationship between the three primary characters of this book developed really well too and made it all the more worthwhile.
If you got the first volume, get this one too.
Totally worth it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Civil War 2 battle
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 17, 2017
Its still a good read in this, although this takes place in civil war 2 and not the main story. X23 meets Old Man Logan and the clash is something for die hard Wolverine fans. Arts OK at times but overall a good read.
