The After the Fall arc is brought to a satisfying end with Angel defeating Wolfram & Hart and restoring Los Angeles and its inhabitants back from the hell dimension it found itself thrown into at the beginning of the arc by a W&H wanting to punish Angel for his murder of all of the members of the Circle of the Black Thorn in the final episode "Not Fade Away" of Season 5. Josh Whedon has been reluctant to call this a Season 6. It is really an extended conclusion to Season 5, showing what would have happened during that climactic fight in the alley behind the Hyperion hotel between the remains of Team Angel against the army of W&H had the WB network changed its mind about cancelling the series.

Ah! The best After the Fall Volume yet. This picks up where the Vol 3. left off with a cliffhanger of Wolfram and Harts vision of the apocalypse (Shanshu Prophecy) and goes into the ultimate battle. People are doing unexpected things. We see things we haven't before. Death and life. You won't regret getting this if you've enjoyed the AtF series so far. You're left with a sense of resolution after reading this. I didn't see that ending coming!

"Angel: After the Fall, Volume Four" wraps up the main story of Angel and company after Wolfram & Hart sent Los Angeles to Hell following the series finale cliffhanger. The story, plotted by Joss Whedon and Brian Lynch with a script by Brian Lynch, delivers while also delving further into darker territory, in keeping with the show's thematic feel. Stephen Mooney an Franco Urru's art effectively sets a tone to match the story as they portray Angel, Wesley, Cordelia, Gunn, Fred/Illyria, and Spike battling the armies of Hell to restore Los Angeles to the world. They also offer an explanation for why these events don't impact other storylines, such as those in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", season 8. Fans of the series will gain a much-needed sense of closure from this volume.

While you've got to read the other graphic novels so you can get to this point, this one is probably the best of the 4 "After the Fall" books. The conclusion feels like Angel and is "believable" in context of the series.

This was one of my favorite books from after the fall. I liked the characters and stories, though I after what I read I can't say the ending surprised me, and I would like for it to have, but then I suppose there would have been less story going forward.

The reason I took off a star was mainly for the art. Some of it I loved and other times I had to stop and see what everyone was wearing because they just didn't quite look like themselves.

Still a great book that I'd definitely recommend.

On reste dans la lignée du justicier seul contre tous, ou presque. On se laisse facilement happer par l'histoire et les graphismes. ATTENTION: BD en anglais
