An improvement over the previous issue.

The "Who is Oracle?" storyline kicks it up a notch in this month's issue.

After going on a wild goose chase orchestrated by the evil Oracle, the Birds of Prey come face to face with a group of snake-themed Meta Humans during an assault on the GCPD safe house. Meanwhile, we're given a little insight to Dinah's backstory in the form of flashbacks to her childhood, which is the sort of material I'd kind of like to see explored more in-depth at a later date.

Given that this is technically part 4 in the story -- the ongoing picks up where the Rebirth issue leaves off -- I was surprised that the arc wasn't wrapped up in this issue. I dunno if DC is going with stories that will typically last longer than 4 issues in this particular on-going series, but I suppose we'll just have to wait and see. Up to this point I always read Birds of Prey in TPB form, so doing it monthly is a whole new experience for me.

In my previous reviews I've complained about the aesthetic choices made by the artist, and I'm going to do so again now because, God help me, it seems to be getting worse. The characters are beginning to look a little bit like Ren and Stimpy caricatures, and it's really off putting. This was the first issue where I genuinely struggled with how ugly everything in the book is. I really hope they shift artistic direction in the next arc, but I'm not holding my breath.
