Can't wait for the last two issues

Now I know how the black version of Harvey Dent becomes Two-Face. It’s kind of tragic seeing a good man fall from the side of the angels, but even Harvey Dent has a dark side that’s been waiting to hatch. This is way more dramatic than in the animated series. Also, this new interpretation of Robin fascinates me. I’m impressed that he figured out that Bruce Wayne is Batman. Now I wonder if they can trust each other.

The biggest failure of this series is the lack of Gotham city as we saw it in the Burton films. The claustrophobic and chaotic architecture which was a mix of gothic revival, Art Deco and hyper industrial is completely missing and replaced with dull, empty streets. The city doesn’t feel menacing like it did in the films and given the heavy handed political themes this might as well have been a story set in the real world.

Also Bruce being sidelined is nothing new especially considering the source material, but does he really have to be completely shown up by robin in every interaction they have? It feels like it’s setting up a pretty interesting character to be a Mary Sue. I want to like robin but the story wants him to be perfect, which isn’t interesting in the slightest.

Aside from character designs and some snappy writing for Bruce, nothing in this story recalls the burton films. The only saving grace for this series is the Harvey story which is admittedly really good.

I’m unsubscribing from the series after this comic. I think four issues is a fair stopping point. These are stupid. I don’t get the hype. It’s not only the exploiting and pandering of themes such as racism in America, the plot is just not well played out. It’s predictive and boring. It’s borderline SJW BS too.

Part four of what could have been Tim Burton's third entry in the Batman franchise, and a good one at that.
