The war-torn world of the DC Comics Bombshells pits new combinations of heroines against unexpected threats at home, and finds Wonder Woman facing a deadly, dedicated enemy who strikes at the heart of her nature: the shape-shifting Clayface!
Joined by teen heroines Donna Troy and Cassandra Sandsmark, Wonder Woman must wrestle with the dark spectre of internment camps imprisoning American citizens at home and the threat of xenophobic villains including a renegade military force called the Mud Pack. But even the two Wonder girls plus teen heroines Emily Sung, Yuki and Yuri Katsura, and the mysterious winged heroine called Dawnstar aren’t enough to protect Diana from Clayface, whose powers affect the very clay that was an intrinsic part of Wonder Woman’s origin!
From writer Marguerite Bennett (Batgirl, DC Comics Bombshells) and astonishing artists including Marguerite Sauvage (Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman), Marcelo Di Chiara (Teen Titans GO!) and Siya Oum (Lola XOXO) Comes Bombshells United Vol. 1: American Soil, bringing the incredibly popular DC Collectibles line to life in stories from Bombshells United #1-6!
“Vibrant artwork unlike anything else in superhero comics.” – A.V. Club

Gotta admit. This is probably the best adaptation of ww2 in comics that I have seen in the here and now.

I really like the story line in the new DC Bombshell series. However the art work is far from what the last several books were.

This is a solid graphic novel and very much a product of the times and culture we currently live in. Wonder Woman returns from the war to free the japanese citizens forced into internment camps. Along the way we learn what it means to be an american, what it really means to be patriotic, and what it really means to defend your country. This book could not have brought up more relative discussions at a more pressing time. What Bennett is trying to say, and I think she gets across very well is that being a patriotic american means defending disenfranchised people from tyranny. Like the american icons we call superheroes, wonder woman, superman, captain america, what they all stand for is protecting those who can't protect themselves, not for some homogenized utopia of the perfect america from yesteryear that never existed.
My only complaint is there are too many characters too soon who don't differentiate themselves, but this graphic novel contains a strong message and narrative.

Wow. It is still awesome. Seven volumes in. This one gets a new rebranding, Bombshells United, but, it carries on the story from the previous six volumes with the same (and some new too) characters.
It takes on a pretty intense subject also, that, as I write this review is depressingly applicable to what's currently happening at the Mexican border. It takes on the Japanese Internment camps.
We get to meet Donna Troy, Cassie, and many others who become the Wonder Girls. Also, we meet Black Canary, see the Suicide Squad again, and even Bumblebee and Katana (very cool). And it was a nice twist with how Wonder Woman was recreated too. I laughed out loud.
It was such a fun TPB and wow to that ending.

I missed the Bombshells, this series always give me so much hope and I have a great time reading their adventures and romance.
Here, Wonder Woman is fighting white supremacy in America. She teams up with a group of Asian American women as they fight the Japanese internment camps. The story, as always, is full of beautiful art, amazing ladies, sweet friendship and conversations about oppression.
Sure, American Soil has its weak moments, but overall is as great as DC Bombshells. And god, how much I missed them. I can't wait to keep reading.
