About the Author

Though they live on opposite coasts, illustrators Peter and Maria Hoey work closely together. Trading drawings back and forth over the internet from their studios in Northern California and Brooklyn, the brother and sister team produces drawings for clients like The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Los Angeles Magazine. In addition to illustration, the Hoeys began writing and drawing comics in Blab! Magazine in the late 1990s, then launched their self-published comic book series, Coin-Op, in 2008.

A charming, unexpected, and sometimes somber collection of beautiful comics. The stellar reviews sold me on this collection, and I am not disappointed. While the Hoeys have a distinct style that is remarkably consistent across work spanning twenty years, the fractured and sometimes enigmatic storytelling ensures surprises from the first page to the last. A book I will happily revisit again and again.
