Their honest and humorous answers will surprise and delight readers of any age, as it turns out that being a superhero is not too different from being a kid.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"A clever idea, smartly executed." -NPR

"The heroes we love are more lovable than ever in this clever, laugh-out-loud funny and action-packed adventure.
Dear Justice League definitely does the JLA justice!" --Jerry Craft, author of New Kid

"
Dear Justice League really surprised me. That was a level of clever I haven't seen in comics in a long time." --Tom Angleberger, author of the Origami Yoda series

"Northrop's freewheeling tenor captures the fun in each situation but allows them to humanize the heroes as well, poking humorous holes in the likes of Batman's foreboding manner and Aquaman's swaggering braggadocio. Duarte matches this sensibility with heroically gleaming figures whose characteristics are amusingly exaggerated just enough to pull them a little closer to earth." --
Booklist

"This new book, written by Michael Northrop with illustrations by Gustavo Duarte, looks and reads fantastically. I cannot wait to get this for my daughter." -Nerd-O-Rama

"Dear Abby' meets the DC universe. Young superhero fans and reluctant readers will devour this sweet and funny graphic novel." -School Library Journal, STARRED REVIEW

A joyful read for all ages! Quite a fresh take of the beloved heroes in the eyes of kids. And I really like the artstyle of Gustavo Duarte who adds subtle pencil details for texture in his character designs.

With an Insectoid invasion looming in the background, the Justice Leaguers take the time to answer messages from their young fans...

Officially, I bought this for my newborn for when he gets a little older but I had to preview it for him. Right? Isn't that what parents are supposed to do?

Anyway, this is a collection of short tales, each featuring a Justice League member responding to a message from one of his or her fans, culminating in a showdown with Insectoids in Washington DC.

The art is cute without being ridiculously so and the writing is clever and funny. Since it's a kid's comic, the characters aren't as nuanced as they normally are but Michael Northrop captures the essence of the characters.

Dear Justice League was a fun little read I'd recommend to parents of future comic readers. Now I'm chomping at the bit for Dear Super Villains, due out in the fall of 2020.

It’s a cute little read with your kids, or if you’re a fan of the characters yourself. An overarching story threads through subplots revolving around the main Justice League heroes and heroines who take breaks from fighting for justice by responding to the questions of curious kids. It’s a little advanced for my own kids right now, but my son is a huge Batman fan and I couldn’t help but snag this the moment I saw it was available.
I encourage you to get this and read it with your favorite little heroine or hero in your life.

I love the approach for the stories and the illustration by Gustavo Duarte. His illustration work is known for aboslute amazing story feel by using characters' body language. Highly recommend also if you have younger kids getting into comics sonce the stories are relatively short and themes are current.

I have a superhero fanatic in my 5-year-old daughter. She was so excited to sit down with me and start this graphic novel. I think even for an interested 5-year-old this is a good choice. Each superhero chapter starts with the letter from a kid. Apparently DC heroes are bombarded with tons of emails that they must answer. Wonder Woman is definitely my daughter's favorite with mine being Aquaman. He's worried he sticks like fish but apparently, he smells like seaweed? Haha! The children who write the letters ask some interesting and thoughtful questions and other times a little odd but it definitely makes these superheroes seem real. They have faults and insecurities just like everyone else.

I find there are two levels in this novel. You've got the obvious written for kids things that are funny and they tend to take things on a more literal level. The other part is for the parent. You catch some funny little sarcasm and just plain absurdity. Overall, I have enjoyed reading this with my daughter. I think as she continues to learn to read that this will be something that she comes back to. It's definitely different and fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice book for my 4-year-old son!

I bought this comic book for my 4-year-old son. He loves it! There are ca. 6 chapters in the book each devoted to a superhero. The stories are connected, so I recommend to read them in the order. Some parts of the stories (typically, the beginning) are quite hard to understand so I have to rephrase them a bit so that my son understands them. My suggestion: skim through the stories in advance to understand them. Anyway, my son loves it!
