In 2009 Boom! gave him the opportunity to adapt his Dingo novel into a 4 issue limited series. And this series is collected into this paperback we are talking about. And here comes my only complaint: If I would not have known the novel I would have said to have read an interesting graphic novel. Having read the novel first I say: the comic is too short, too simple, too polished compared to the written novel. An adequate adaption would have needed at least estimated 12 issues to catch all the ramifications of this great novel.
Well, Dingo is a man at the end of his twenties who has to guard a wooden box which is a mysterious family heirloom. By the carelessness of his rock star brother this box gets lost. Dingo has to get it back by all costs. Why, that you have to find out reading. He is accompanied by an odd stray dog big as a calf and haunted by his ex-wife who follows her own ruthless agenda. At the end you learn among other things where the nickname Dingo comes from.
I would recommend: Do it the same way as me, read the written novel first, and then try the graphic adaption. It will be a fun read if you like odd brash stories with a touch of the occult.
A hint of greece myth, a dash of supernatural horror and a bit of one liner badassery.
blend.
