Civilization is dead, but Chito and Yuuri are still alive. So they hop aboard their beloved Kettenkrad motorbike and aimlessly wander the ruins of the world they once knew. Day after hopeless day, they look for their next meal and fuel for their ride. But as long as the two are together, even an existence as bleak as theirs has a ray or two of sunshine in it, whether they're sucking down their fill of soup or hunting for machine parts to tinker with. For two girls in a world full of nothing, the experiences and feelings the two share give them something to live for...

I got into the book from the anime, and its basically just the anime ( I know the book came first). But that said I really love the book and especially the last 2 manga issues that the anime didn't cover. Came to the series for something cute to watch/read. Instead I got way more in terms of tough questions, the point of living, philosophy, and questions about life. I really love the book series and loved the anime, I really recommend this book and the books that follow.

This series is like getting punched in the stomach by Ivan Drago...
repeatedly...
at random intervals...
no warning whatsoever.

This is not your average 'cute army girls' slice of life. The journey is dark and serious, and the scenery is a look into the human soul. This is a story about trying to keep a full belly, about trying to find a warm place to sleep, about simply finding some sense of safety for tomorrow... and maybe the day after.
If you've ever seen a time where you didn't know where your next meal was coming from, if you didn't have a comfortable place to sleep, if you didn't know if you would open your eyes when you closed them... well, Chito and Yuuri will feel as familiar to you as a broken-in pair of boots, a good field jacket, or that reassuring weight you carried on your shoulder or in your hands.

It's not going to be a long journey, you get hints of that from the very start.
It's going to be mostly a sad journey, with a little happiness snatched from a world without much left to give... and which parts with it reluctantly.
It's going to be a story of simple joys and things that we take for granted in our comfortable existence will become luxury beyond imagination.

So join Chi and Yuu for their tour.
It is an emotional ride through your own soul as much as their world. Will you find joy along with them, or only dispair at a world fallen from dizzying heights?
Just remember, this is a last tour.
There is nothing waiting when it's over.
There is only what they will find along the way... and the question of how long they can keep it going.

The series introduces you to the lives of Chito and Yuuri. Two girls in a post-apocalyptic world trying to find a purpose in life while exploring what is left of their world. With one of them being the brains and the other one being the brawn, they both help one another with each other's flaws. The story feels very realistic as well since you can connect with at least one of the girls with their struggles. It's nothing too dark and you can watch the series on Amazon Prime to get a look at it.

Art is so cute and I love the story

Girls Last Tour is unlike a lot of other post apocalypse stories. In a world where hardly any life remains and man made structures are breaking down. Two girls Yuuri and Chirp simply wander finding food and trying to understand the fragments of the past they encounter.
It's both an odd mixture of melancholy and hopeful all at the same time. All the it somehow maintains a relaxed atmosphere.

The artwork of the series is simple and but charming. It's landscape are a big highlight as each page brings a new view unlike the previous ones. If your curious as a sidenote the first volume covers the first 3 episodes of the anime adaptation. If you are looking for something unique and off the beaten path of more traditional stories. Then look no further than Girl's Last Tour, it's a journey worth travelling. -MickManga

Not being the biggest fan of the post-apocalyptic setting in most media, volume 1 of Girls' Last Tour does at least make the idea more serviceable and delightful. The premise follows Chito and Yuuri, two girls exploring the aftermath of some catastrophic and cataclysmic event leaving the world in ruin and more importantly, the two seemingly to be the last ones alive. With the manga being more slice-of-life and philosophical rather than survival horror as you might initially think it does strike a nice balance between picturesque humorous moments and those that offer some light food for thought on everything from the nature of war to life itself. However, with most chapters being rather short and more akin to a 4 panel comic, you tend to get more slice-of-life and humor from the girls than philosophy which tends to be more of a pleaser for any audience.

As far as the adventures in this volume go, the chapters are broken into stand alone vignettes which see girls visiting an abandoned outpost, enjoying a hot bath after a snowstorm, and even running across their first contact with another survivor among other things. However, by judging the end of the chapter, that fellow might be a one-time appearance. At any rate, the vignettes on their own where pretty interesting for setting up the world as well as what the reader can expect. The only problem I did have was with how nondescript the setting is, but feel like the next volume will provide some more insight.

In terms of artwork, Girls' Last Tour is very minimalistic in its approach, yet gets the point across. With the simplest designs being Chiito and Yuuri themselves, it is quite easy to get attached to them or even be in awe in the sharp contrast to some of the beautiful discovers they unearth. Besides the environment and characters, it is worth noting that the vehicle the two use for transportation dubbed the Kettenkrad was designed by Takaai Suzuki, the same that worked on the direction of Strike Witches and Girls und Panzer as its military historian. Definitely an interesting tidbit of information for those that like the aforementioned titles.

With the debut of Chito and Yuuri travels getting off to a light start, I can't say that I am completely sold on this series, but liked what I experienced so far. Although, given the nature of the series and its calming atmosphere, I wouldn't mind dropping in for the next leg of the trip while taking in the vistas and visages that Chito and Yuuri stumble upon.

I've read the whole series and sought out all the volumes after buying the first volume here- I starting reading the manga after watching the anime, and it's definitely worth it if you've seen the anime already. The dialogue and events in the manga are pretty much the same scene per scene up to volume 4 where the show ends, but the art adds so much more from the beginning. I think Tsukumizu's sketchy style perfectly accompanies the reflections on life and decay far better than the show.

5.0 out of 5 stars Uno de los mejores mangas que he leído

5.0 out of 5 stars The greatest story I have ever experienced - Life changing
Reviewed in Canada on May 30, 2019
I just wanted to say that Girls' Last Tour, manga + anime, is the most wonderful and beautiful story that I have ever experienced. It will make you look at your life completely differently and it makes you envision the world in a new way. I would say anyone who has been depressed or suicidal should read this story and realize how much more life has to offer. Girls' Last Tour challenges some tough subject manner, everything from environmentalism to politics and warfare and artifical intelligence vs humanity and the meaning of life.

All though the main focus is on the 2 girls exploring the world, it has many subtle story points that are nailed so incredibly well and are very relatable. I have watched around 150 anime and have read around 40 mange in my life and Girl's Last Tour is right at the top, I would say in my top 3 series. I sometimes wish it was longer but it moves along so well. I also wouldn't say its a series for everyone who wants a straightforward show or expects lots of action - no this series is not for you. Its much deeper than that and tells its story through powerful imagery and more advanced ideas on life.

Overall it is a 10/10 for me and I had to buy the manga to support the incredible creator of this series.
