Green Arrow (2016-2019) Vol. 5: Hard Travelin' Hero Kindle & comiXology

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 126 ratings

Green Arrow has lost his fortune, and now he is hitting the road to save America in Green Arrow Vol. 5: Hard-Traveling Hero.

They’re called the Ninth Circle-a criminal bank that funds war, terror and carnage, all in the name of racking up profits. They stole Oliver Queen’s company from him and nearly destroyed Seattle, only to rebuild it in their own image as Star City. Now they’ve got their sights set on the rest of the United States.

But Ollie is having none of it. As Green Arrow, he’s setting out across the U.S. to piece together the clues that will lead him to the Ninth Circle, one brawl at a time. And though Green Arrow’s never been much of a team player, his travels find him crossing paths with heroes like Batman, the Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and Superman. But before they can team up, Ollie will have to make amends for the jerk he’s been in the past.

Even with the full might of the Justice League behind him, can Green Arrow take down an organization so powerful they’re seemingly above the law? Or will his quest just paint a target on his back so big that even Ollie can’t escape it?

Acclaimed novelist Benjamin Percy (Teen Titans, The Dead Lands) and artists Otto Schmidt (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Juan Ferreyra (New Suicide Squad) bring Green Arrow back to his hard-travelin’ roots! Collects Green Arrow #26-31.

This is by far the best Green Arrow volume that I've read in quite some time. Everything just clicks. The art is beautiful, Oliver finally comes full circle with his character development and it wraps up the Ninth Circle story arc quite nicely. I also really enjoyed the cameo appearances of the Justice League members. It wasn't some cheesy match up, Each encounter with the various members fit perfectly into what was going on in the story at the time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Green Arrow Outshines The Justice League
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 18, 2020
While volumes 1-3 of the Rebirth continuity of Green Arrow where exceptional, Benjamin Percy was still finding his feet. Volume 4 was and remains as the best collection of issues thus far but Volume 5 is a close second. Green Arrow joins forces with various members of the Justice League ane remains the best character on the page at all times. The conclusion to this volume is nothing short of spectacular and its an epic continuation of the Green Arrow story that can serve as its own standalone. New readers should jump on board with Volume 4 but Volume 5 is just as good a starting and ending point for the emerald archer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Green arrow goes from strength to strength since rebirth.

Green arrow goes from strength to strength since rebirth. Do I like Ollie, not really as a person, but I love him as a character.

He’s like a really SJW version of classic Guy Gardner. He lives on impulse, trusts his reflexes and wears his heart on his sleeve.

This book sees Ollie making up with a lot of the JL and working with them on his expanding quest.

Another great book layout wise for me, each issue self contained and still contributes to the greater story.

Cant wait till the next arc, might even reread the whole run just before it drops.
