About the Author

Sam Humphries is a comic book writer living in Los Angeles. In 2013, Humphries launched a new Avengers comic called AVENGERS A.I., and relaunched UNCANNY X-FORCE as part of the blockbuster MARVEL NOW! initiative. His work for BOOM! Studios includes HIGHER EARTH and FANBOYS VS. ZOMBIES. He has also created the critically acclaimed indie hits OUR LOVE IS REAL and SACRIFICE, the latter of which was re-released in a deluxe hardcover edition by Dark Horse Comics. He is now writing GREEN LANTERNS for DC Comics.

Robert Venditti is a New York Times bestselling author of more than three hundred comic books and graphic novels. Some of his works include the monthly comic book series Justice League, Superman ’78, Hawkman, and Green Lantern for DC Comics, X-O Manowar, Armor Hunters, and Wrath of the Eternal Warrior for Valiant Entertainment, and the graphic novel Six Days, inspired by the story of his uncle’s participation in D-Day. He has also adapted Rick Riordan’s global bestselling Percy Jackson and the Olympians and The Heroes of Olympus novels, as well as Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky by Kwame Mbalia and Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz. His graphic novel The Surrogates was adapted into a feature film by Touchstone Pictures, and his work on The Flash was the basis for season three of the CW television series.

Venditti lives in Atlanta, where he both writes and serves as a storytelling consultant for some of the most recognizable entertainment brands in the world.

Sam Humphries great run on Green Lanterns wraps up with this volume that collects Issues 27-32 of Green Lanterns.

The five-issue story Out of Time is a great finale for Humphries. It manages to deal with a lot of big ongoing plot threads that have been in the book since its second volume. It also serves as a nice capstone to the character arcs for both Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz.

The single story House Party is a simple story but a lot of fun. It addresses Simon's issue with his estranged best friend while serving as yet another good character piece for these two great Lanterns.

Overall, this is a very good conclusion to Sam Humphries time as the writer of Green Lanterns. Both the characterization and art remained consistently good throughout the series. I'd never heard of these two before reading Humphries run and he's given these characters a great life and made them relatatable to readers. Here's hoping the new writer can build on that strong start.

This volume wraps up the very long story arc involving Volthoom in a satisfying way and finally allows the Green Lanterns to move on to the next great adventure. It was a little slow paced at times but overall, It was one of the better Rebirth volumes that I've read.
