I heard this series is ending. It's a shame. Books 1-3 have been phenomenal. Robert Venditti has crafted the finest, cleanest Hawkman tale of all time.

If you read the first two books, this 3rd installment keeps the narrative and even manages to incorporate a DC event (Year of the Villian) in a logical way.

I think we'll get 1 or 2 more books from Vendittis run. I'll be the first to download. I would happily buy a hard/softcover omnibus of Vendittis run. This has been a tale I've reread multiple times.

Robert Venditti made a forced story work for Hawkman. This arc was a tad forced upon Hawkman’s storyline but it ended up being interesting with the lead up to Hawkwoman. Don’t know what it is about Oliffe’s art but I don’t care for it.

The myth of the Hawkman gets explored thru a new lens by Robert Vebditti and company. The story get more fleshed out thanks to new concepts. The only downside is that this book gets a new artist that is nos bad, but feels less cinematic than the earlier artist.

Still a recomendation for every fan of the character and his mythology

Since this part of the Venditti Hawkman run connects to one of DC's larger crossovers that I didn't read, I thought this volume would be disjointed at best. Instead, Venditti, Oliffe and Palmer and their creative associates manage to meet the requirements of the crossover while still continuing their cohesive revamp of Hawkman's history. This continues to be, in my opinion, the best Hawkman solo title we've seen in decades.

I was intrigued when this series started out, but I'm just not interested in the cosmic version of Hawkman. He was pretty complex to begin with as an Earth-based reincarnate; however, few of his new incarnations interest me, especially the ones offered here. (Sorry, Venditti fans.)

That said, it was nice to see someone besides James Robinson tell a good Shade story.

This is the next arc after amazing origin - deathbringer arc. It's intriguing and well written, which has kept me interested but art is not good as much as the story, in fact it's taking me out of it. But I will be reading next for the sake of good story

5.0 out of 5 stars A phenomenal run

Phenomenal, just like the first 2 volumes. Also Venditti took advantage of the line-wide event Year of the Villain in a brilliant way, making it so that it made sense in the bigger picture of his run. Again, a phenomenal run without a single misstep
