Love this animated series! It should be a movie or tv show!

I'm not a big graphic novel reader, but I fell in love with this story. The art is amazing and I caught myself staring at some of the images for a while, taking in all the details. I love the story as well. It's such a unique mix of SciFi, witches, and dystopian elements.
I read both Volumes and love Volume 1 a tad bit more. But I can't wait for Volume 3 to come out eventually!

I started reading this on comixology several months back, and after my subscription lapsed I had forgotten about it. Recently, at Denver Comic Con, I met the lovely ladies behind this comic and was able to pick up the physical copies of vol 1 and 2. (Just by the way they are all awesome and if you ever get a chance to meet them, I highly recommend it).

Re-reading it, I remember why it intrigued me so much. Between the gorgeous and unique artwork, and the character development/plot, I found myself unable to put the books down. Combining tech and magic...the in-depth world around Elenor and the rest of the gang is just so interesting and dark.

This story has everything from Magic... Tech... Demons... Badass little girls... LGBTQ characters...strong female leads... political fanatics trying to rule the lower class... etc. It truly is a book worth picking up and checking out.

In the first volume... we meet our protagonists, Eleanor, Vera, Isaac, and a lot of our anti-heros + all our nasty villains. I love that a lot of the "villains" are women --the immense amount of strength and charisma they have is just fantastic. I wish I could go more into depth, but it would absolutely be a spoiler, and I hate to do that because of how fun it was to discover bits and pieces of these characters through the pages.

i really wasnt expecting much when i started reading this but i was pleasantly surprised at how much i enjoyed it. from the characters, to the story, to how nicely everything flowed (even though theres a lot to the story). its never convoluted; many comics tend to do that, where it just gets confusing and you gotta stop and wonder if you missed something (it definitely gets frustrating). this just had great pacing. all in all, its beautifully written and beautifully illustrated. i definitely recommend it to fans of science fiction/fantasy and those who appreciate well-written stories/characters.

Cyberpunk but with magic (think Shadowrun). Evil megacorp with a power hungry exec wants the thing that will make them unstoppable, but a secretly superpowerful bystander protagonist gets drawn into the mess. Some spare amusing banter and a whimsical Auntie Mame Sorcerer Supreme were highlights, but it felt pretty flat. It also didn't help that I'm almost certain they're going to do a romance subplot with the leads that I can't bail out of fast enough.

I really love this series. I was initially drawn to the beautiful cover art--it caught my eye at a comic convention and I had to buy it! I was pleased to see that the illustrations are consistently excellent throughout the entire series. The premise is unique and the story intriguing, the characters are diverse and there's plenty of humor along the way. The magic and world are so, so cool. Give this series a try, you will not regret it!

A fascinating blend of magic with a sci-fi-esque dystopian setting. Witch in training Eleanor is running an errand for her teacher one evening when she sees a demon attacking someone in an alley. She shouldn’t get involved. But she totally gets involved. Unfortunately for her, the demon is a mercenary and the victim is a smuggler, so things get real complicated real quick.

I like how dangerous the magic in this world – and how cool it looks, not gonna lie! Elanor is impetuous but not to the point of carelessness, so you can still root for her. Her teacher is hilarious. The creepy assassin is pitch perfect. Everyone has interesting hair.

Two volumes have been printed, covering issues 1-12, and issues 13-15 are available digitally. The story has not yet concluded.

I read the floppies of this series as it came out. You can find the blog post I write about half way through the first story arc here: [...]
This is a beautiful book. The art is charming and expressive. The concept is unique. The characters are compelling. The creative team is a small group of independent artists who love the medium and it shows in the best possible ways. If you have reservations about picking up an indie comic, I can assure you that the quality of the writing, illustration and coloring of Hex11 is up to the highest comic industry standards.

I recommend this book to comic fans who are tired of super heroes but not tired of the fantastical. Enjoy.

*A quick note regarding perceived bias: Although I share a last name with the illustrator on this book, I am not related to her in any way––although I have met the entire creative team at SDCC, and they are all friendly, good natured people that you'd be happy to support artistically.*
