Hundreds of years after the end of the world, a new human society has rebuilt itself from scratch. The one percent of the population who control all of the wealth and power on Earth have long since hidden themselves away behind the walls of a mysterious city: High Level. Our story begins in an outland community where High Level is spoken of only in myth and rumor. There we'll join a self-interested smuggler called Thirteen on a sprawling sci-fi adventure across a new continent of mystery and danger, as she's tasked with delivering a child messiah to the fabled metropolis at the top of the world, from which no one has ever returned. I'm not really a comics guy, I have a couple of trades, but far from a comics guy. I loved this book! Rob provides an awesome story of which I'm hoping he gets to write a lot more of! The art is beautiful and packed full of details, hidden and otherwise. I bought the individual issues and still got the TBP for the extra art and the TLC that went into this product is very clear. If you're into cyberpunk/dystopian settings, you'd be doing yourself a disservice by missing out on this one. Fingers crossed DC does the right thing and allows the creators to keep telling this story! Absolutely love it!!!

Like Star Wars? Firefly? Mad Max?
How about Nine Inch Nails?
This comic book collection from the guy who brought you Dancing Baby, and years of NIN art direction, Rob Sheridan is awesome.
Definitely a series to look forward to.
If you’re an angry fanboy who hated the new Star Wars movies because of Rey, Rose, or Holdo, and hates women in general, this is not your jam. Why? Because it isn’t going to give you the slightly exposed male chest you wanted from a Luke Skywalker knock off.
That and the main character is a woman, with unnatural hair color/style.
Trumpians will also be triggered reading this.

I started for the bright and gritty at style, but the story swept me up. Couldn't put it down! Absolute gem.

Interesting story line, great art!

Even with all the familiar sci-fi, dystopian tropes in this, this still feels fresh and original. The worldbuilding and questing was fantastic. Thirteen is a local smuggler in a post apocalyptic landscape. She gets hired to transport a young girl to High Level, an almost mystical city where after toiling away for years you can ascend to the life of the one percent. The art was amazing. Even though there are three artists across 6 issues, Romulo Fajardo Jr's exquisite colors bring the book to life.

The only downside is that this is only the first volume. Now that DC has killed off Vertigo will we even get to see the rest of the story? I want to know what the first page with knights and princesses has to do with a dystopian comic, dammit!

I absolutely loved this graphic novel. Not since Saga have I been so engrossed. The art was magnificent with its bright colors, the story line was on point and the characters were extraordinary. The only downfall of the book is the next one is not out there waiting for me. I will definitely be on the look out for it. Highly recommended!

I've loved Rob's work for years and High Level is no exception. Well-written and well-paced with a world that is just the right size. It's not so big that you feel like you're going to get lost but Rob clearly spent time fleshing out the rules of this world and it shows.

Hoping we see a follow-up entry in this series and I can't wait to reread with the soundtrack.

This story is awesome. Definitely worth checking out if you haven’t already. AND the art is consistently awesome! Sometimes comics only have one or the other but this book definitely has both and they work so well together. A true page turner. Hope there is more to come soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ein absoluter Geheimtipp für mich
Reviewed in Germany on December 30, 2021
