The art kills this. The art inside IS NOT the art you see on the cover.

I really wish the artist from planet Hulk came back. This art is so cartoony and not as serious. Every time I start to get into the story the art, again, pulls me out of it. It's like a "Captain Underpants" book. It's HORRIBLE. The heroes are blocky and look like a RoBloks character. The fights are muddled and hard to interpret. The story is decent, no where near planet Hulks story. The art is just flat out bad. Doesn't gel with the atmosphere of the story. I can't stress enough how bad this art is. I had to FORCE myself to finish this book because of this artist John Romita Jr. 🤦‍♂️It's laughable.

Excellent storyline in World War Hulk. We can only hope the movie is close to the comic version. Great artwork!

Great read for any hulk fan, watching him tear through the Marvel universe was my dog crazy! Hella fun adventure!

Here is a volume of pure Marvel action. The Hulk rampages around NY in a revenge-fueled hysteria following the events of Planet Hulk. He blames the Earth's heroes, Iron Man, Black Bolt, Dr. Strange, and Mr. Fantastic for his problems after they shot him into space (a phrase you'll read about 100 times) and he returns to Earth to exact his revenge.

What you've read above is essentially the entire plot. There are no Marvel Universe-shaking events here, no outstanding character development. Only action and destruction as the Hulk tears apart most of the Marvel Universe. If you know that going in, as I did, then this is a terrific volume with old-school battles in the city. I can't even really give away any plot points because there is nothing really to give away. The Hulk shows up. Beats everyone up. Then finally calms down. That's pretty much it. And it works.

The art is the true selling point here. John Romita Jr. has taken a lot of unfair criticism over the last few years for his artistic style, and I'll admit that while I think of him as a comic book God, some of his later work has been off. Not here. This is the best work he has done in many years. So much better than Wolverine: Enemy of the State and AvX. He seems to really be able to capture the rage of the Hulk (see also The Return of the Monster) and he also draws some awesome aliens.

So, if you don't mind a rather one-note story, but want truly great art, this is the volume for you!

Wonderful look into the life of The Hulk. I love the Hulk Smash and love more the mind behind his rage.

The Hulk has come back to earth and he is PO to the max. If you like massive battles this one is for you. The lack of death keeps it PG but it’s a great all out battle between the Hulk and his war bounds and the “heroes” of earth.

Although it was short (especially in comparison to the year-long "Planet Hulk" epic that preceded it), "World War Hulk" is a very satisfying, action-packed read. This is exactly the kind of story that long-time Hulk fans will love: one by one, Hulk wipes the floor with almost all the other Marvel heros. Been waiting to see the jolly green giant peel Iron Man's armor off like a grape? That's the first big fight. The Avengers, FF, Doctor Strange and others follow. Black Bolt is a mere footnote to the main action. Particularly satisfying is a bare-knuckles smackdown with the Thing that has some of the best action art I've ever seen in a comic: John Romita Jr.'s use of computer-enhanced effects, particularly blurring effects, is stunning, and gives these issues a kinetic texture that we used to have to dream about. I thought this was a completely satisfying action epic. Not sure what the end meant, but I'm ready for the next graphic novel, so I can find out! (Joe Sixpack, ReadThatAgain book reviews)

Este comic es ya un clásico de Hulk, inspirando las escenas de Hulk en la película de Thor Ragnarok. Me gusta porque Hulk es un personaje que solo quiere devolver lo que han hecho, en ese sentido, me siento identificado con él.

I rarely read any comic book that built so well on the past history of a character. The emotional undertones, moral conundrums, the great payoffs and the philosophical confrontation is almost as important, scratch that, more important than the physical conflict. Extremely good art work, beautiful colors and great writing. this is probably one of the best comic books, one of the best stories, I have read in a long time.
