About the author
First and foremost a comic creator, Kirkman has seen groundbreaking success in the adaptation of his comic book titles into major franchises in all forms of content. In 2010, his Eisner award winning series, The Walking Dead, was developed into an AMC television series. It has become a worldwide phenomenon as the highest-rated basic cable drama of all time and is the #1 show on television among the coveted 18-49 demo. The property has also been extended into a blockbuster game franchise, licensing business and ongoing publishing success.
Kirkman also serves as consulting producer of The Talking Dead, the popular talk show hosted by Chris Hardwick that deep dives into each week’s episode of both The Walking Dead and its companion series Fear the Walking Dead. Kirkman is co-creator, writer and producer of The Walking Dead’s companion series, Fear the Walking Dead.
He is also executive producer of the AMC series Robert Kirkman’s Secret History of Comics, and the Korean pre-apocalyptic drama, Five Year. Kirkman’s popular demonic-exorcism comic, Outcast, was adapted, produced and airs on Cinemax.
For the big screen, Kirkman will produce Invincible based on his long-running popular comic book. The project will be written, directed and produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg for Universal Pictures. Other credits include AIR featuring Norman Reedus and Academy Award nominee, Djimon Hounsou.
Additional Kirkman comics include Super Dinosaur, Battle Pope, Astounding Wolf-Man, and Thief of Thieves.
Robert is also the Chairman of Skybound Entertainment. Robert, an advocate for creator rights, co-founded Skybound alongside his longtime business and producing partner David Alpert in an effort to ensure creators are able to maintain their intellectual property rights and creative control.

So I was glad to read in the sketchbook section of this volume of Invincible that I am not the only one who dislikes Oliver. I imagine that he is being groomed to be a future "big bad". The kid is just annoying and his storyline is kind of drawing away from the central story theme of Invincible, which, to my eyes, has been that good and evil are all a matter of perspective. Oliver (or "Kid Omni-Man" yikes, that's some bottom of the barrel naming yet blunt foreshadowing of he continues on his current path) is just a small sneaky version of his father. I'm anxious to read the next volumes, but it'll have to wait...they aren't available on Comixology Unlimited yet, and my book fund is empty for the month.

---------------------------------------------------
This is one of the most action-packed (and gory!) "Invincible" graphic novel collections to date, as Invincible gets his butt kicked by a giant serpentine subterranean rock monster, and his little brother joins him in his crime fighting patrols. Invincible also has a falling out with his governmental handlers, and begins to adjust to life as a rogue agent.
The tone of the book has shifted noticeably from its lighthearted origins, away from a mostly kid-friendly storyline to a bloodier, more violent exploration of superhero mythos, closer in tone, perhaps to Rick Veitch's "Miracleman" (although thankfully, the goriness doesn't seem to be the whole point of the book, as it was with "Miracleman.") Still, although the book is still relatively accessible, it's no longer a title that I would think of recommending to younger readers... Unless page after page of splattered brains and intestines is your idea of wholesome entertainment.
The writing's still quite good, and the title is consistently entertaining and engaging, but there sure seems to be a lot of gratuitous, graphic bloodiness going on these days. (Joe Sixpack, ReadThatAgain book reviews)
