The art is fantastic, the covers especially, which seem to have a spark of life in them. The writing is very well done if a little shallow at times (though that may be intentional as most of the shallow moments come from neanderthals or it could be possible that they just seem dull as Jana the Jungle Girl is written so brightly) but has some very clever moments that come from Jana.

I recommend this to anyone who enjoys adventures intertwining dinosaurs with the modern day. Cave men and machine guns, sabertooth tigers and submarines, beautiful strong women fighting horrible sea monsters.... It isn't a brilliant story but it reminds me of the imagination and spectacle of old movies that wanted to show something to amaze. The action is pretty much nonstop which I think may be it's only detriment... they don't really stop for exposition (which a lot of books have too much of) and just keep tearing through a world full of danger with reckless abandon. I give the book a 9/10 and suggest it to old school adventure fans... it's like Jules Verne but with more explosions and a much more titillating lead lady.

I bought this because of censorious virtue signalers demanding people not buy things from artists that don't bow down to their busy body "moral" authoritarians. I love that Frank Cho has not backed down when people try to silence him by screaming insults at him and calling his art "bullying" and "harassment" and their cursing him and slandering him "tolerance". I won't be told what to enjoy by crybullies I'm glad that I made this spite buy.

So much better than I expected. Frank Cho is masterful with his writing and story pacing. There's such fluidity as you go from one panel to the next, it's directed with a type of precision you don't see in a lot of comics. And the art speaks for itself.

The star of the series, Jana the Jungle Girl, is absolutely beautiful. If your new to Frank Cho's work, then you should know he is an absolute master when it comes to the female form. Every movement and creased muscle, is detailed so finely.

The attention to detail is an understatement. If your a Cho fan, an artist, and/or just looking for some good storytelling that's not only entertaining, but just plain fun, I would highly recommend this title to you.

Overall a good product. Great artwork on quality paper in a good binding. Fans of the title should be very pleased.

The main reason for this review is to further vent about Amazon's cheapskate packaging. I can't even begin to estimate how many books I've ordered from Amazon over the years, but until this one every one came in a rigid box that offered adequate protection. This book, however, was shipped in a lightly padded envelope that allowed the book to be crammed into my mailbox in a manner that allowed for damage to both covers and the spine.

They don't write them like this anymore. Kickass heroines are everywhere but few are as scantily clad or pulpy as jungle girl. It's the best of Jules Verne and the most fantastical of Edgar Rice Burroughs, pumped up on steroids served with a heavy side of corny pulp. This omnibus begins in a jungle full of dinosaurs before moving to an aquatic adventure with mermaids and sea monsters. It's all good fun and a riot of a ride supplemented by great artwork that bursts off the page. They may write them like this anymore but I'm glad Doug Murray still is.

as I only sample the comic book scene from around the edges, I was not familiar with Frank Cho. I am pleased to say this is quite stunningly rendered. I understand that Cho visits the scenario of beautiful Women pitted against Dinosaurs, & various Troglodytes, on numerous occasions. I cannot speak about this, because this is my first Cho outing.
Its an entertaining read, but its his artwork that really tells the story, & over the years, I have seen some cracking Graphic novels, spoilt by shoddy artwork. Not so here.
If your a Cho fan, you'll love it, if your not, you should marvel at his artistry alone.

In this action packed artwork by Frank Cho, Adriano Batista and Doug Murry, this omnibus comes alive with issues 0-5 of the mini-series and also issues 1-5 of season 2 of Jungle Girl.

If this is not enough there is a complete cover gallery from Frank Cho and Adriano Batista for your appraisal.

As you read the book, marvel at the artwork that takes you into Jana's world and imagine yourself being there with her if you dare. Would you be worried about her, or would you be thinking if you are going to be some dinosaur's next meal? You will not know if you do not obtain a copy for yourself, and your collection.

Every now and again in the comics industry, you get a comic series that you can tell was written entirely so the artist to draw cool stuff he likes, that's a little different from the norm. In this case, an excuse to draw a bikini clad jungle queen, jungle tribes, dinosaurs, mermaids, and Oceanic, Lovecraftian elder gods. That's fine however. It's not going to be supremely intellectual work, but it's fun to read, fun to look at, and acts as a nice piece of escapism. Something to read on an idle Thursday afternoon, when you're bored, but don't feel like thinking a whole bunch. Besides, why not? The artwork is beautiful, the colours are vibrant, there's tons of fast paced action and humor. Pick it up, and have fun with it.

As an artist who also likes to draw dinosaur-fighting jungle girls, I wanted to check out Frank Cho's take on the archetype and see how a jungle-girl comic would play out. I'm sorry to say I was quite disappointed. The art is good for the most part, but the anatomy of the prehistoric creatures is surprisingly abysmal. See for instance the take on Tyrannosaurus rex, which has three-fingered hands(!) and is anti-climatically portrayed as a cowardly scavenger. C'mon, surely you guys could look up diagrams of the creatures' anatomy on the Internet for reference. As for Jana herself, at times she seemed borderline invincible in combat, which killed the tension. A comic like this should be awesome as hell, but it ended up being a letdown.

3.0 out of 5 stars Kurvenreiche Dschungelabenteuer
Reviewed in Germany on January 6, 2015
Richtig gehört: The other outfit had worm slime all over it", versichert uns Jana; na, wenn's nur das ist...
