Justice League of America (2017-2018) Vol. 1: The Extremists Kindle & comiXology

4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 96 ratings

Written by rising star Steve Orlando (BATMAN, MIDNIGHTER) and illustrated by a league of superstar artists including Ivan Reis (GREEN LANTERN) and Andy MacDonald (DETECTIVE COMICS), this JUSTICE LEAGUE VS. SUICIDE SQUAD spin-off is a JLA for a whole new era--exploding from the pages of the blockbuster DC Rebirth event!

The Justice League and the Suicide Squad—the World’s Greatest Heroes and its worst—went to war. A team unlike any other rose from the ashes.

Batman. Black Canary. Vixen. The Atom. The Ray. Killer Frost. Lobo. Some are heroes, some are villains and some exist in the gray area in between. But the Caped Crusader sees the potential in all of them to show everyday people that their superhuman guardians are just like them: capable of fighting for justice despite their flaws.

Batman had better be right, because Earth is about to be invaded by a threat from beyond our universe. The tyrant called Lord Havok and his army of Extremists are out to make the planet safe again—by destroying the free will of all its inhabitants.

Can this untested new Justice League help America fend off the Extremists’ agenda? And can the Dark Knight contain the Main Man—the living weapon of mass destruction known as Lobo?

Discover the answers in JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA VOL. 1: THE EXTREMISTS! Collects issues #1-6 and JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA: REBIRTH #1.

Why is it a great fresh take? It’s trying to do things differently. It’s taking it from a human aspect. Making an effort to show people how to pick themselves up by the bootstraps and walk forward for progress.

As always the trade was worth the read and very satisfying. I can not help but wonder why the overall League (like WW’s magic group) are not crossing over at all.

This Rebirth version of JLA is just OK. The plot isn't all that exciting and an entire issue was wasted on getting the team together. Plus, the premise that Batman is bringing together heroes that "normal" people will relate to and be inspired by? How does that make sense when every member except him has special powers and one member is even an alien?! But I will say that Lobo is the best part of the book.

The characters work good together, probably better than theJustice League. Never liked Lobo till now. Frost is great!!! Great team chemistry!

This version of the Justice League, although very different than any other version I have ever read before works for me being that Batman has assembled a group of people with the exception of Vixen and Black Canary that seems to work well together and have perfect collective chemistry. Lobo, Ryan Choi, The Ray and Killer Frost round out this group and they face The Extremists and an madman and his mythological creatures and army. Great overall tale and great art. I loved this volume.

I usually like Steve Orlando's books but this story was too bloody and digress ed into some weird story about the rights of different dictatorial countries.

Really enjoyed the story and artwork. Another team turns up looking for trouble, batman assembles a new team. Lobo is the real hero while batman takes backseat.

How on Earth do you take this group of characters and write a boring book? Bland, one dimensional villians and a version of Batman who doesn't really behave like Batman, just a bad HR manager in a cape.
