Fantastic beginning for this version of the character. This character will be getting a lot of exposure coming up from JLA and an animated series on CW Seed. This comic did a great job of introducing Ray and showing us just a hint of what he can do. He's probably going to be the most high profile gay superhero in DC's lineup but it's not about his sexuality. That's an important part of him but it's still just 1 component. The feelings and motivations he has are universal. I'm very excited to see his story expand.

I liked it. I'm a bit unclear about certain details, like how old Ray is supposed to be. He seems a teen, but then his best friend is much older and running for mayor? Usually young guys aren't running for mayor so the age thing seems a bit odd. I got shades of the Koontz Fear Nothing/Christopher Snow with him being raised inside allergic to light. But still interesting. Being gay is fine, but still a lot of unanswered questions and has a tacked on feel. Will see how it progresses as the series continues.

This is the first openly gay DC character I've read about. Really cool. Looking forward to reading more about him!
