I loved it from beginning to end. A queer love story during Nazi times. I really wanted a volume 2 but its a standalone. This story made me want to fall in love buy also very emotional. Its better to love then not love at all.

A beautifully told story, accompanied by art drawn in a style reminiscent of Golden Age comics, this story doesn’t shy away from the morally ambiguous choices, and unsure decisions made DURING a period where the history is unfolding and the story not yet fully known. Aching in its honesty, it is truly a terrific graphic novel.

Such a heartbreaking story about an American and German finding love and experiencing loss in Berlin during WWII. Love is love and there should be no place for hate where there’s love.

The story follows an American man who lived and found love in the artistic, intellectual and queer Berlin just as the Nazis came to power. Lovely art, interesting historical glimpse into the intelligentsia of the period, and a bittersweet story.

A short but necessary reminder of all that was lost in Nazi Germany and a warning for what may be coming back.

Really nice little story giving heartbreaking insight into the lives of people threatened for being themselves. Themes are still frighteningly relevant, especially in today's climate. Really enjoyed it

Absolutely heartbreaking but exquisitely told. Another painful perspective of a difficult time in history but also a snapshot of a truly uplifting relationship.
