M.G. “Mike” Lynch - Mini-Bio – 2018
Mike Lynch is a retired California State Park Ranger and an author and editor.
He has authored/co-authored ten books, been editor/co-editor of six more books, and has done the book design and layout for more than ten books and various other publications. Additionally, he was the editor of a quarterly 48-page magazine for the International Police Association (IPA) for nine years.
Lynch’s first book was Rangers of California’s State Parks, published in 1996. Lynch’s other books are Auburn Images (2004), Insignia of the California Resources Agency (2005), Canyon Hikes (2005), California State Park Rangers (2009), American River Canyon (2012), and Bowman (2017).
He has made hundreds of public presentations on history and other subjects over the last four decades.
Lynch is active in his community. He serves as a publicly elected director for the Auburn Recreation District, as a commissioner on the Placer County Local Area Formation Commission, and as president of the California State Park Rangers Association.
On the personal side, Lynch is an avid collector of park, forestry and fish & game badges, patches and other related memorabilia, including old signs.
