About the Author

Eiichiro Oda began his manga career at the age of 17, when his one-shot cowboy manga Wanted! won second place in the coveted Tezuka manga awards. Oda went on to work as an assistant to some of the biggest manga artists in the industry, including Nobuhiro Watsuki, before winning the Hop Step Award for new artists. Volume 89 is a very special edition of One Piece. In the world of One Piece The series creator has said on many occasions that the fights are about a clash of ideals even more then the combat itself. And oh boy does Luffy vs Katakuri deliver in spades on that end. It's not a stretch to say that their clash is a near perfect interpretation of that vision. Well done Or a well done.

As for the rest of the volume, first of all the artwork is beautiful with many scenes that I actually think would make pretty cool pictures or posters. The rest of the volume is filled with such a sense of urgency that it had me on edge from start to finish. This was my personal favorite volume since the Punk Hazard arc. If you are a One Piece fan, you'll love this one. I have been MickManga and I hope you enjoy your journey through volume 89 as much as I have. Take care.
