The graphic adaptation of the debut urban fantasy hit under the author's supervision continues. Sure to attract new readers to the series. Enjoyed.
Over all, it was a pleasing read, though if I was unfamiliar with the author and encountered the graphic novel in a store, the 'praise' written on the back would have me putting it right back down.
The 'praise' is as follows: 'This is a book for tweens who may be looking into an entry into comics from the world of 'Twilight'.' Aside from being insulting to the writing prowess of Patricia Briggs, it is also incorrect.
The vampires in the Mercy Thompson novels are not daywalkers with sparkly, granite-like skin, the werewolves aren't prettyboys who run around without shirts, and as far as I am aware, the Twilight novels don't even contain fae.
In short, to compare the brilliance of Patricia Briggs to the divel of Stephanie Meyer is degrading. Not to mention, any tweens who read Twilight and enjoy it likely don't have the intelligence neccessary to comprehend the plot of the Mercy series. There is no comparison between the two and it's clear that the reviewer (comicbookresources.com) didn't know what they were talking about.
