Jonathan Hickman (born September 3, 1972, South Carolina) is an American comic book writer and artist. He is known for creating the Image Comics series The Nightly News, The Manhattan Projects and East of West, as well as working on Marvel Comics' Fantastic Four, FF and S.H.I.E.L.D. titles. In 2012, Hickman ended his run on the Fantastic Four titles to write Avengers and New Avengers, as part the "Marvel NOW!" relaunch. In 2013, Hickman wrote a six-part miniseries, Infinity, plus Avengers tie-ins for Marvel Comics. As of 2015, he is writing the crossover event Secret Wars.

Mostly a "how did we get here" issue but none the less, important (everything in this story is). Moria and Charles reveal the future to Magneto, which takes place sometime in the past before the current present.

Yes, time travel is a pain but Hickman writes it in a way that's easy to digest if we don't count the other timelines that Moria's experienced. Once Magneto knows, what happens? Planning!! And what's going on in the long future? Is that the Phalanx?

I love the detection that Marvel is going with the Xmen. Can't wait to see how the story will unfold. I specially love how they seem more mature and realistic, instead of always being the punching bag of the humans, and defending those that are trying to kill them over and over again.

Changing the Past to Redefine the Future (Review #289)

To start off I again have to wonder why House of X and Powers of X were split up when it seems they would have worked better as a single series. However, the story being told is still fantastic. Hickman has truly boiled down the the best aspects of Marvel's Mutants and combined them with his own unique flare. If there's one thing the previous issues have been building up, it's that mutantkind's greatest enemy is not man but machine. This comic makes this even more clear throughout the various time periods introduced in the first issue of Powers of X. R. B. Silva as artist is still a great addition to the series. This isn't his first experience with the X-Men having previously worked on Cullen Bunn's X-Men Blue. This issue also introduces yet another longtime X-Men character and enemy back into the fold.

I am still intrigued! I found along the way that Charles Xavier and Magneto agreed to work together to defeat their enemies. I was still surprised to note that they were also working with their deadliest enemy, Apocalypse. I am still interested to see how storyline unfolds. Apparently, they were working together to shut down a computer program designed to wipe out mutantkind into extinction. Struggle still went on. And stay tuned!
