This was a really good run by Greg Rucka. As always, he truly understood the characters and what drives them. Some great character work and lots of good moments throughout.

Great run for the Frankie C. Also wish the punish eggs would have stuck around. All and all a great punisher run

Greg Rucka’s run with PUNISHER is for me (and I think objectively) is possibly the definitive run for Frank Castle. The only argument I would entertain against that is Marvel canceling Rucka’s run so damn early into it. I remember reading Rucka being angry about the cancellation because he was meant to be on the title for a while. He clearly intended to be. And while that didn’t pan out, what remains is a lean and brutal classic revenge fantasy that acts as a summation of Castle’s appeal as well as adding the most important supporting character in Frank’s life since Ennis’ classic run (that conversely probably over stayed its welcome). I’m talking about Rachel Cole-Alves.

She just recently made a cameo in Nathan Edmunson’s Punisher series and it made me come back here and more or less want to pine for the old series. Edmunson is doing a good job, but damn I wish Rucka had been able to pursue it longer. i like everything about what he was doing. I loved the look of the skull. I loved the beard and eye damage. Castle got hurt maybe for the first time in his existence in comics. Like really hurt. There was a sense that he was stoppable after all, which made him all the more triumphant when he pulled the proverbial rabbit out of his hat -- (more on this in the next volume where he faces the Avengers).

Last volume, while Daredevil, Spiderman and the Punisher were fighting the ninjas of the Hand, Punisher Ally, Marine Rachel Cole- Alves made off with the Omega drive and gets right on the track of the people responsible for killing her Fiancé, family and friends during her wedding reception in which she was the only survivor.

I gave this book four stars because although a great continuation of a great run by Mr. Rucka, it is the weakest story of all three volumes.

Rachel makes the Punished close to human at times. The art does that ; he doesn't speak except to give orders. I am interested to see where this goes. Good on everything.

Since I've started to read the Punisher by Greg Rucka I would rate each volume as so...Volume 1 - 4.4/5 Volume 2 - 3.7/5 and this being Volume 3 - 4.7/5 this being the best of the 3 so far in my opinion! Picks up right where volume 2 left off. Getting just a little more personal with some particular characters believe it or not. Also, has an ending that has me wandering how the next volume will pick up all the drama! A great buy!

This is a great ending to a great story. It has Punisher punishing someone in the worst way he could at the end. This is the Punisher at his best.

I'm not an avid comic book reader but decided to start with the punisher since he's my favorite marvel character. Was a good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure comicbook genius
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 8, 2013
The volume that saw Marvel plan to cancel the Punisher's new series prematurely despite it's superior wrtining and artwork, this is the penultimate volume of Punisher and an absolute epic. As Cole-Alves begins to lose focus over her desire for revenge, Frank is sure to keep her in check as the two make more daring attacks on the elite of crime. But the final strike spills over into the public and innocents are butchered by a criminal mastermind gone insane. A controversial, intelligent, thought provoking read. War Zone is the final instalment.

4.0 out of 5 stars 「
Reviewed in Japan on September 10, 2016

『SUICIDE LUN』(1994

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Punisher.

Greg Rucka captured the character perfectly! I even like it better than Ennis. It's really sad this series got cancelled, with only War Zone miniseries to be released in trade.

This is highly recommended, there is even non-Punisher fans that like this run.
