Rick Remender is the writer/co-creator of comics such as Deadly Class, Fear Agent, Black Science, Seven to Eternity, LOW, The Scumbag, Tokyo Ghost and Death or Glory. During his years at Marvel he wrote Captain America, Uncanny X-Force, Venom and created The Uncanny Avengers. His work at Marvel Comics is the basis for major elements of Avengers: Endgame, Falcon and Winter Soldier, and Deadpool 2.

He served as lead writer/co-showrunner on SyFy's adaption of his co-creation Deadly Class with the Russo Brothers, wrote/developed video games for Electronic Arts such as Bulletstorm and Dead Space, and served as an animator on films such as The Iron Giant and Anastasia.

He currently curates his own publishing imprint, Giant Generator, at Image Comics while writing the film adaptation of Cary Fukunaga’s Tokyo Ghost for Legendary and serving as executive producer on Fear Agent being developed by Matt Tolmach Productions and Point Grey through Sony for Amazon.

I have become somewhat of a Frank Castle (Punisher) comic book fan lately. I guess he appeals to my hardcore vengeance side. I also like him because he does not have any real SUPER powers, but is a vicious and ruthless fighter who uses whatever weapons are at hand. His sense of justice and take no prisoners attitude makes him a very dangerous man. Of course, to be objective, I think Frank Castle is also a psychopath, but then, no one is perfect.

In this adventure Frank joins forces with a smart young partner who is a genius with computers and other high tech subjects. Frank still uses his old fashioned regular rifles and guns to destroy his enemies. He goes up against the former "Green Goblin" who now sports a red hoody jacket in this fast action story.

In conclusion, if you are a fan of Marvel comic's Punisher series, you will enjoy reading this volume.

I never really cared for The Punisher in the past but with his recent cameos in Deadpool and other Dark Reign crossovers and being seen using old supervillian weapons instead of just guns, I found myself enjoying his presence and got curious. This first volume, taking place right after Secret Invasion, is a good jumping in point. This volume explains where Frank got those super villian weapons and has a great face-off against The Sentry if you can believe it! Unfortunately the artwork is that horrid watercolor style which I see as the comic book equivalent of the shaky-cam movie style direction. Luckily the story is good enough that it overshadows the art and makes this worth getting if you're having the same curiosity about The Punisher that I was.

This story is quite good for what it is. The basic premise is that Norman Osborn is "ruling the world" and Frank Castle isn't happy about it. So we get Frank trying to take down the big boss. Of course it doesn't quite work out like that. The art is very good & very suitable for this series. Frank comes across quite well in some of the fight scenes especially against the hired goons. Frank gets some high tech gizmo's that make him look a bit stupid but then the gizmo's are used in a good & funny way. The customising of some of his equipment is a bit much but overall it's a solid enough set up for the rest of the series.

There is a very quick synopsis of The Punisher & his role in the Marvel Universe over the years at the back of the book which is interesting enough & helps new readers get a grasp on the character's history (minus the MAX series of course).

I love the dark reign story arc and the punisher is one of all time fave characters so I had to pick this up.

There are lots of awesome bits in the story, such as the Punisher vs sentry "battle" at the beginning and when castle steals a whole heap of weapons and suits up with an Antman helmet and captain America shield (among other things) is just gold.

If your a fan of dark reign definitely pick this up.

The book maybe did not download correctly. Not sure, but it did not zoom in on all the pages like it is supposed to when you read it. So the print is real small when the e-comic book does not load right. Story is just okay. Average. Is it worth $7.00 to read?....not really! Would I buy another one....maybe a graphic novel as opposed to another comic book.

Soyons clair : il n'y a rien de véritablement surprenant dans ce nouveau volume du Punisher pour qui connaît le personnage. Ancien militaire dont l'épouse et les enfants ont été sauvagement assassinés, Frank CASTLE est devenu un "vigilante", c'est-à-dire qu'il administre lui-même sa justice, expéditive, à tous types de truands. Personnage MARVEL, le Punisher ne détient aucun pouvoir, si ce n'est une extraordinaire suite dans les idées, une maîtrise complète des armes et des techniques de combat et, il faut bien le dire, une capacité de récupération hors du commun (WOLVERINE et SPIDEY mis à part). Ici, CASTLE décide de s'en prendre à Norman OSBORN (alias le BOUFFON VERT) qui, à la faveur d'une énorme manipulation, est apparu comme le héros de la victoire sur l'invasion SKRULL et a mis la main sur les Etats-Unis, les Vengeurs, le SHIELD etc. compris. Le Punisher échappe de peu à SENTRY après avoir tiré un coup de feu potentiellement mortel sur OSBORN, et se retrouve ensuite aux prises avec THE HOOD, l'un des alliés d'OSBORN, et sa bande de super-villains de série B à Z. So the Punisher's back, his first order of the day, kill Norman Osborn, head of the peacekeeping force H.A.M.M.E.R. That doesn't go quite to plan but t least he has a new tech friend to help him through Marvels Dark Reign, this kids no Oracle but then again, that's a different universe. The story in itself is pretty much ok, with the usual Punisher gun toting voilence, explosives and gritty survival you can come to expect, with comparisons to Tom Clancy's Sam Fisher not heavy but there if you look for them. It's a good getting started storyline for a new chapter in Franks life.

The artwork reminded me of Leanardo Manco's work on Hellblazer, very dark, fine but works well to compliment the life that Frank leads, although Jerome Opena does stumble when bringing The Punisher in a daytime scene, other than that the story flows easily with Rick Remenders script and is well worth picking up for fans of Punisher.
