4.8 4.8 out of 5 stars 736 ratings

At long last, Hazel and her star-crossed family are finally back and here to kick off a NEW STORY ARC! So, where the hell have they been? As thanks for fans’ endless patience, the SAGA team is proud to return with a double-length issue—44 pages of story for the regular $2.99 price point—without variant covers or gimmicky renumbering. Just more pulse-punding adventure, heart-wrenching character drama, and gloriously graphic sex and violence, as SAGA begins the second half the series and the most epic chapter yet!

The SAGA series has sold over 6.8 million copies to date across all formats, has been translated into 20 languages, and has garnered multiple Eisner and Harvey Awards, plus a Hugo Award, British Fantasy Award, Goodreads Choice Award, Shuster Award, Inkwell Award, Ringo Award, and more. It has been featured in such mainstream media outlets as TIME, Entertainment Weekly, The Atlantic, NPR, and beyond, and has become a pop culture phenomenon.

My favorite comic book series of all time is back! I re-read the entire series from the beginning and it was an amazing ride. I still remember picking up the first issue in my schools bookstore in 2013 and I’ve been hooked ever since. I’m glad the hiatus helped them Bkv and Fiona rejuvenate and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.

I am Sooo biased. I am one of the long suffering fans that have been WAITING for a return of Saga. It's 3 years later. And they do not gloss over the happenings of the last comic. I can't wait! Let's go!

I am so excited to finally read this next chapter in Saga. It was worth the wait and was everything I hoped for. I eagerly await #56. Must read if you have been waiting as long as I have.

So happy to see BKV, Fiona, and Ben bring back the best comic series going. Can’t wait to read where the SAGA takes us

This isn’t a reflection on the series, but in a way, it kind of is in a bittersweet way: I think this was my last issue. I now realize just how much I loved Marko’s character that I don’t think I can continue the story. I don’t mind that they’re willing to kill off main characters—that’s real; that’s life. And it’s great, in a weird way, that Marko died doing things his way, based on what he’d committed to and believed, but at least eulogize him! He wasn’t a minor character, after all! I know he was just doing what he saw was his job, but I’d have traded The Will for Marko, and when he callously brought out Marko’s skull, it was really real, even though I knew 3 years had already passed. Saga is great, but thankfully it doesn’t pull me in emotionally to the degree that RDR2 did or I’d be sadder. And yet, they pulled me in just enough to not want to continue without Marko (or Prince Robot, if I can be honest—I shouldn’t have liked that murderous scoundrel, but here we are). I realize now that, though I enjoy the insane world of Saga, I’m not interested in it anymore without my favorite characters. And I realize as I type this that Marko loving Alana made her more endurable. I don’t like screw-up, seat-of-the-pants characters; they’re grating at this point in my life. They need balance. But now that my guy Marko is gone, I guess so am I. Maybe I’ll check out Compendium Two, but it’s doubtful.

See you maybe?

Great start to the next adventure. This series can be sexually graphic but I love the characters and the storyline. Great start to a new adventure with them!

I’m a little confused that Marko is really dead. How will Hazel’s ghost brother return? We shall see… Exciting return!

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally! And still very good!

After a very long hiatus by the authors, the story has moved on by three years as well. I was back in the world of Saga immediately, even though I haven‘t re-read any of the previous volumes. Welcome back, Saga!

Single issues are short, although this one is longer than most with 47 pages. So saying more without spoiling anything is tricky. Good so far. Looking forward to the next one in about 4 weeks.

Content warning: rating M for Mature, aka one graphic, gratuitous sex scene. Which I could have done without.

5.0 out of 5 stars AT LAST! Definitely worth the wait!

I might have come to the Saga story later than most other fans, but the wait between the end of the first 54 issues and this one felt like forever and a day. I still want to hold out for a paper copy of Compendium Two, but until then I have my kindle :D

It is so good to see the story picking up where it left off, with the same challenging story and characters we've grown to love and hate and miss (even the dead ones).

I am so stoked for issue 56 and onwards already.

Oh my. This feels like reality coming back to soothe our pandemic tortured souls with 40 pages of filth, fun and exploding alien species. Still the most creative, funny and insane comic out there. Welcome back Fiona and Brian. Thank farnaj, and about bloody time
