About the Author

Matt Fraction writes comic books out in the woods and lives with his wife, writer Kelly Sue DeConnick, his two children, two dogs, a cat, a bearded dragon, and a yard full of coyotes and crows. Surely there’s a metaphor there. He's a New York Times-best-selling donkus of comics like Sex Criminals (winner of the 2014 Will Eisner Award for Best New Series and named TIME Magazine's Best Comic of 2013), ODY-C, and Casanova. Under their company Milkfed Criminal Masterminds, Inc., Fraction and DeConnick are currently developing television for NBC/Universal.

Chip Zdarsky is the current writer of
Batman for DC Comics (somehow). For Image Comics he’s the writer of Newburn and the writer/illustrator of the award-winning Public Domain.

His previous work includes an acclaimed run on
Daredevil and Spider-Man: Life Story for Marvel, and he’s the illustrator of Image Comics’ Sex Criminals—an Eisner Award winning series and New York Times Bestseller (despite all the penis jokes).

"Sex Criminals" remains one of the most hugely entertaining ongoing comics series around -- after Volume 2, my anticipation (heh) for the next volume is matched only by my can't-wait eagerness for SAGA.

The series, of course, follows two oddball lovers who discover they share a rare ability to freeze time when they orgasm, allowing them to commit crimes with impunity. Unfortunately, as of the end of Volume 1, they discovered that their meddlings with time are being monitored by a group who share similar abilities: the Sex Police, if you will. If you thought the last book concluded with more of a dead end than a cliffhanger, Fraction & Zdarsky plays with your expectations. A teasing recap/opener admits the seeming plot rut the story had run into, before the story veers off-road into wholly unexpected directions. The narrative opens up, adding rich, new characters while exposing new depths to our main characters, Jon and Suzie. As ever in this series, Fraction's plot is suffused with a warm sense of loving understanding and sympathy for his characters, revealed in their uniquely offbeat sexual histories. This series is a rare feat: existing at a seemingly impossible crossroads of the high-concept and the deeply personal. It's frank and funny about sexual matters, delighting in polymorphic perversity and lacing the background of some scenes with scatological jokes hidden in the fine print (like the titles in a porn bookstore), yet it somehow never defaults to the demeaning and dirty. (This achievement is in no small part due to Chip Zdarsky's unfailingly charming art, with a cartoony verve that gives real, vivid personality to every character, a delightful bounce to the action, and a psychedelic sense of wonder to "Cumworld" / "The Quiet," the timeless zone that Jon and Suzie share.)

In short, the book is filled with joy and titillation, and (as Stephen Soderbergh said about The Girlfriend Experience) you should share it with someone you ****.

A bit quicker paced than the first volume. I may not pick up the third, however. The story is kinda stalling.

This is a very good graphic novel. The characters are interesting and the story line is excellent. The story keeps you involved. The artwork is fantastic. I am looking forward to volume 3. You have to pay attention. Which makes me happy because some graphic novels have stories so basic it is a waste of time reading them.

Totally kept the ball rolling with the first one. Even ate this volume up faster. Couldn't put it down. These guys really do write a super entertaining set of people and stories. Only thing is, I'm trying to save money this month. But I know I'm already going to buy the next volume.

This is easily the best comic I'm currently reading, whether it be DC or Image. Volume 2 of Sex Criminals somehow outdoes the first in its wit, charm, humor, and all around fun storytelling for a more mature audience. I don't know what it is about these perfectly written characters that makes such a genuine connection with me, but I'm sure if you've read it, you understand what I mean. Jon and Suzie embody, in some way or another, anyone in their 20's who has ever dealt with anything from relationship problems to mental health issues, all while making us laugh and teaching us a useful lesson. I can't say it enough; you should be reading Sex Criminals.

Fraction's doubling back on where the first five issues left off, and complicating Suzie and Jon's relationship gave this the little bit more that I was looking for in the first trade volume. Suzie's restlessness and Jon's depression complicate the relationship and side characters are introduced or more consistently fleshed out. The sex police are made more interesting and menacing, but stand-out characters are Jon's psychiatrist and Suzie's OGBYN. The charm in the art plays against these additions and so do the subtle and scatological humor. I will keep reading these.

The characters are just as charismatic as ever. However, the story jumps the shark here, and the world gets much stranger and less concerned with the character study of the previous book.

Una historia que por el nombre puede parecer erótica pero que está lejos de serlo y cuenta una historia divertida y diferente con ratos de humor y seriedad.

4.0 out of 5 stars Again some great themes are discussed

I LOVED the first volume and was eager to read on so naturally I ordered the second volume.
But I have to say I liked Vol 1 better. Maybe it's because I wasn't expecting anything or another for another reason fact is I give Vol 1 five stars and Vol 2 four stars. But don't mistake this as me saying it isn't any good. I enjoy it a lot. It was gripping and there were some great things discussed and scenes shown that I've never seen in another book or graphic novel before.
I recommend this to the reader that likes graphic novels and loved Vol 1.
