At first, I was hesitant to read this series. I was not a big fan of the movie and, while I like Han, he is not one of my favorite Star Wars characters. However, because I am reading all the Star Wars comic books in chronological order, I had to read it. Wow! I was very impressed. So far I have read, Darth Vader (2017 series), Kanan, Obi-Wan and Anakin, Star Wars: Jedi of the Republic - Mace Windu, and a couple other series and this one is the third best so far in the story line after Vader's and Darth Maul's series, respectively.
I usually read a comic book series one issue per day, but I finished this series the same day in one seating (took me like an hour or less). It was fast-paced, had a good dialogue, was easy to follow, and we got to see Han during his time as an imperial cadet. While this topic was not one I was salivating about, I am sure glad I read it. It was a fun read. It is definitely great as a stand-alone, without any background knowledge of the films. I definitely recommend this comic book series to anyone who is a Star Wars fan and even more if you enjoy Han's rebellious charisma and his cunning ability to always get himself into troubling situations, all while having fun.
The only thing I was not crazy about this series was the artwork. It was nothing special, but it wasn't awful either, unlike some of the Star Wars comic book series I've read (Mace Windu's series' artwork was horrendous).
Finally, I want to thank Robbie Thompson, Leonard Kirk, and Arif Prianto for their amazing job with this series.
