About the Author

Alan Moore is perhaps the most acclaimed writer in the graphic story medium, having garnered countless awards for works such as WATCHMEN, V FOR VENDETTA, From Hell, Miracleman and SWAMP THING. He is also the mastermind behind the America's Best Comics line, through which he has created (along with many talented illustrators) THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN, PROMETHEA, TOM STRONG, TOMORROW STORIES and TOP 10. As one of the medium's most important innovators since the early 1980s, Moore has influenced an entire generation of comics creators, and his work continues to inspire an ever-growing audience. Gets an extra star for the very reasonable price for this much entertaining content, which nevertheless remains a lesser title from America's Best Comics, and one of the few not directly written by Alan Moore (who "plotted" it for Peter Hogan to write). A spinoff from the superior Tom Strong comics (which you should def read before this). The first six-part series is better, more feels like it's at stake, and there's a great twist; the second is still fun but feels more perfunctory. For ABC completists (but all true comix lovers would like to be).

Alan Moore didn’t write a single word on this.

All of these issues were scripted by Peter Hogan.

Alan Moore is merely a co-plotter, he doesn’t write a single issue on this. If you are buying it because its Alan Moore, don’t. If you just want a good book, buy it. Peter Hogan does a great job on this - it’s just not Alan Moore’s writing at all.

Nein, so genial wie Watchmen ist das hier natürlich nicht. Es ist auch weniger düster; das Bild von Menschen, Monstern und Helden ist nicht ganz so negativ. Aber auch hier haben die Superhelden eine Biographie, und auch hier ist das mit Gut und Böse nicht so einfach wie zum Beispiel in den DC Comics oder bei Marvel. Schon gleich zu Beginn gewinnt man den Eindruck, dass hier etwas neben der Spur ist, gerade wenn es die Superhelden selbst sind, die eigentlich alles kontrollieren.

Wie üblich bei Moore ist das alles gut und spannend erzählt, mit vielen Dialoge und ein paar Rückblicken. Sehr gut hier sind die Zeichnungen, sie sind näher an aktuellen Superheldencomics als viele andere Geschichten von Moore. Wie immer gibt es auch ein paar erotische Elemente, wobei es diesmal allerdings beim Küssen bleibt, das weitere wird der Phantasie des Lesers überlassen.

Es ist jetzt keiner der Comics, den man gelesen haben muss. Aber ist immerhin noch Unterhaltung auf hohem Niveau, die man hier zu lesen bekommt.
