About the Author

Writer Jason Aaron's early collaboration with artist Cameron Stewart on DC/Vertigo's The Other Side was named one of The Washington Post's "Best Comics of 2007." His next project, Scalped, garnered industry-wide praise and led to a guest spot on Wolverine. After signing with Marvel Comics, Aaron completed another run on Wolverine, as well as stints on Black Panther and Ghost Rider, before moving on to launch Wolverine Weapon X and relaunch Wolverine. He brought Frank Castle's tortured tale to a devastating end in the pages of PunisherMAX and, in the wake of his status-quo-shattering miniseries X-Men: Schism, helped usher in a new era for Marvel's mutants in the pages of Wolverine and the X-Men.

Italian artist Simone Bianchi spent 11 years making a name for himself in Europe, including writing and drawing his own science-fiction epic Ego Sum. He won Europe's prestigious Yellow Kid Award as the year's best Italian artist and writer. America first got a taste of his work in DC Comics' Seven Soldiers: Shining Knight. Bianchi has brought his ferocious talent to blockbuster runs on Wolverine with writer Jeph Loeb and Astonishing X-Men with Warren Ellis, as well as the epic limited series Thor: For Asgard.

Thanos the mad Titan was born and as he grew, his carnage began. No one was safe. Not friend nor foe or family. In truth he had no friends. He was a deviant, inside and out. This book takes you on a journey of Thanos's self discovery. He goes from a lost boy trying to make friends to a fully awakened Psychopath. There are things that defy belief. Crimes that are just heinous. This is story you have to read if you're a fan of Thanos.

Strong and solid book by Jason Aaron and quite a surprise in quality from Simone Bianchi. I typically hate his art style but I thought it worked perfectly with this character and the dark turns taken throughout the story.

Aaron weaves a great origin tale to the Mad Titan just in time for Infinity and his brief cameo appearance in the Avengers film. This book introduces us to Thanos at his birth and shows how his villainy evolved from his sociopathic pre-teen years to how he became the genocidal maniac courting Death of today.

I love reading a good backstory. This backstory for Thanos was dangerous and gory. Maybe in a different universe he could have changed.

I've been a Marvel Comics fan for several decades. Along the way, I've read many characters' origin stories. THIS retelling of Thanos"s origin ... in both the carefully chosen words, and fantastic, rich artwork ... is just "epic." Thanks to the entire team who out this together. I enjoyed reading this tale (and will read it more times, I'm sure).

Really fun book. Dark and insightful into the mind of The Mad Titan. Very cool.

Decent art, good writing and nice to see some of the backstory of Thanos that I'd not read before. I enjoyed it.

If your a fan of thanos, or just a comic fan in general then this book will answer a lot of questions on what was thanos like when he was younger... or how did he turn out like he did....when did he first meet death....what he did when he first left his planet...does he have any offsprings.... this book will answer all those questions and more, you can not go wrong picking it up.

If Jim Starlin was a fan of Charles Manson, he might have written Thanos' origin just like it is here in Thanos Rising. While a slight departure from the true origins of Thanos, Jason Aaron tells the story in such a twisted manner, you may have to take breaks between chapters/issues, and maybe even pages. The art by Simone Bianchi is fittingly dark, grim, and dismal. Thanos is gruesome here, with so much more detail than how I saw him in other works. He is depicted almost human in his appearance at times and to me, while this is different, he is a perfect monster. And again while this is different, I believe Jason Aaron did Jim Starlin's Mad God of Titan much justice here. If other writers should follow suit, Thanos will be unmatched in evil by any villain in comic history.

The art. The concept and the character of Thanos are portrayed so well, that it feels like he narrated it himself.
