My daughter loved this book. She giggled the entire time she read it. She loves how the story unfolded and the ending was perfect.

Great book

I loved the Baby-Sitters Club books as an 8 year old, and I am so glad to see them being published as graphic novels. I purchase two copies of this- one for myself and one for my 11 year old niece. We are starting to get into graphic novels as a way to help her dyslexic brother associate words and pictures. She was really excited to see a graphic novel for girls. I should clarify that these books are not *just* for girls- but they certainly appeal to my niece more than X-Men or traditional comics. Also, I should clarify that this book is not a comic- it is a graphic novel. This means that it is a genuine novel that has been heavily illustrated. Thus, if you consider comics low-brow literature, you may still want to consider a graphic novel. Essentially, the entire original story is here, with a lot of original dialogue. The storyline is the same and the characters are the same.

There are a lot of graphic novels that I do not care for, because of the illustrations. This novel was illustrated by the same woman who illustrated "Smile." The pictures and text are very clear.

Some people are complaining the story lines are not appropriate for younger elementary. I think when these were published they were aimed at Middle School aged kids- since the kids in the books are all in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. I remember reading the original ones as a 9 year old, and it was my first introduction to a lot of new concepts, like divorce, deafness, and diabetes- but to be fair, these are all things I hear my elementary students at school talk to their friends about. Ann Martin has always been really good about writing about tough themes for kids in a way that makes them non-threatening.

I would really recommend this novel to any girl who struggles with reading, or any girl who finds reading boring. It is a series, with #2 already published, and #3 and #4 on the way. If your girl happens to like the graphic novels, you can always try the original, non-illustrated series as well. if you have a girl that REALLY is getting into graphic novels, we also liked the Phoebe and the Unicorn series as well.

This is the start of how 7th grader Kristy came up with the babysitter’s club. Kristy, Mary Anne, and Claudia bring in new girl Stacey. The girls work together to design a flyer, place an ad, and assign job titles.
Meanwhile, they deal with issues like parents dating and a friend’s secret. Jobs include dog-sitting, wild cousins, and a girl afraid of the witch next door.

Loved the colorful and vibrant illustrations! Raina’s a great talent

A great read! Look forward to more babysitter’s club.

Wow, what a great little book. I hadn't seen the black and white comics as I'm only really interested in color comics, but I do own a lot of old baby sitter club books. I was surprised that this is actually a shorter book in height than the standard graphic novel, and fits right in with the rest of my baby sitter club books quite nicely. Although, about twice as thick as those books. I'm an adult, but I read kids books occasionally and I sat down and read it in about an hour tonight. I haven't read the book in about 20 years, but I have to say I liked this even more than the first time. It just looks so great as a graphic novel, and all the parts of the story.. the letters they have in the books, or the drawings of the posters just fit right in in this format. Almost better than they did in the original. It's also interesting that they still broke the comic down into chapters.

The only down side is that the beginning of the story lacked some description when Watson is introduced.. it takes a few pages before you realize that Kristy's parents are divorced and she's dating Watson since it isn't exactly explicit at first. But really, that's the only slight negative that I could find.. I really can't imagine this story being as engaging in black and white. It's also hard to tell that this wasn't originally printed in color too.. they did a great job colorizing it. Many of the action lines are changed to white to stand out a bit better. I really hope they give the Goosebump graphix books the same treatment next!

A number of errors in spelling. Considered not buying future books in series due to this. My daughter really likes them, but I have a hard time letting her read simple text that have simple errors. She's talked me into trying a few more.

I loved this series growing up, but all I got was boring black text on bland paper… well my daughter now gets to enjoy all their adventures but in beautiful comic style. I honestly may have to read it for old times sake! Amazons price at the time I purchased was still $5 cheaper than my local Walmart and they’ve got the whole series! Will definitely order more

Arrived when stated in excellent condition. My 10yr old daughter read and finished it in the same day and had requested the second one in the series. My 7yr old is now reading it, and I will pass it on to my niece. I loved this series as a girl, and I'm glad they are now enjoying it in this new graphic novel version.

My 4th grade daughter loves these. After reading this one she asked for the next, which is the very first time that's happened with a book. True, this is a comic, but still, it's a great thing to have a kid reading.
