The Book Kindle & comiXology
En route to Italy, a group of American tourists learn of a series of DIY travel guides, nicknamed "The Book". These unofficial guides are collected and updated with first-hand experiences by the travelers themselves. Different "Books" scatter the continent, telling of the best lodging, deals, and "off the grid" adventures from sight seeing to local folklore for anyone clever enough to find them. A local cult, practitioners of Sanctus Letum, the Holy Death, disrupts the American's plans for adventure when they hide pages from the Dark Book, Shaitan, in one of the travel guides. The friends are lead down a path of secret religion, death, resurrection, and demonology.

About the authors
Raised on a steady diet of B-movies, science fiction, fantasy novels, and comic books, Erik Hendrix has become a mad-scientist creator and world-builder in his writing career. At Arcana, Erik has written SideShows and the upcoming The Evil Tree, Champions of the Wild Weird West, Deadly Harvest, The Book, The Slave Trade, and is on the writing team for Arcana's company-wide crossover, Intrinsic. He is currently working on a number of titles to be released in 2013 and beyond. He currently resides in Oceanside, CA with his wife, Amanda, and two pups, Jovie and Darla.
About The Evil Tree:
"The Evil Tree stands shoulder to shoulder with the best out there. This is a comic about a group of friends surrounded by a living ghost story and it will scare the hell out of you." - Geeks of Doom - http://www.geeksofdoom.com/2012/10/15/comic-review-the-evil-tree/
"If you, like me, are a fan of horror movies, but horror comic books have left you wanting, The Evil Tree is the perfect remedy." - Word of the Nerd - http://www.wordofthenerdonline.com/sneak-peek-the-evil-tree-from-arcana/
About SideShows:
"Atmospheric and richly textured, like a circus-fueled pulp novel played out across the page. SideShows gives greed, gangsters and gambling a fresh spin." - Jim Zub (SKULLKICKERS)
"Bizarre. And violent. What more is there? Okay, how about side show freaks and gangsters all doing business in the one city we all wish we could've visited: Vegas in the '50's." - Andy Lieberman (COWBOY NINJA VIKING)
Michael David Nelsen, writer and artist, was born and grew up in the frigid lands of Minnesota. He likes to think the harsh winters helped shape him into a rugged ideologue, with an existential awareness of the fragility of life, love, and power. But that's just so he can sound clever.
Trained as an Artist, Graphic Designer, and Web Developer, he was able to take those skills, mixed with a lifelong love of literature, pulp adventures, science fiction, and metaphysics, mix that with a dash of humor and recklessness, and begin writing Comic Books and Graphic Novels. His first published work, "SideShows" (with scribe Erik Hendrix) was said to have "Energetic, dynamic art and a great story." by comic legend Mark Waid.
Since that time he has worked with Heavy Metal Magazine, Virus Comics, 215 Ink, Arcana Studios, and Asylum Studios, producing stories in long and short form across multiple genres from Sci-Fi and Horror to Magical Alt History and Pseudo Biographies. Look for his works "Cryptwalker", "Philip K. Dick's Head is Missing", and "Supernaut" available from Heavy Metal.
A multi-award winning Graphic Designer, he now seeks to further his writing career with more comics and novels planned for the immediate future.
