As an ancient comic reader, Carol Danvers is good as anything I read when I was young. .thanks for the reintroduction

This is much better than the first two volumes but for all the build up to this story there was no real pay off. Margaret Stohl is finally starting to grasp how to write Carol Danvers and this volume showed a ton of improvement. Carol isn’t as whiney now and the humor was actually pretty good (if you want to skip the previous volumes, just read The Ultimates and Secret Empire). However, the ending to this volume completely flickered out. The resolution to save Bean literally happens in one single frame so there’s zero weight to it. And the last couple pages where everything turns back to normal is the biggest deus ex Machina. There better be a flashback or something next volume that explains how everything got fixed, because I definitely want to see how that played out.

OK story, but not as good as DeConnick, even on a bad day. Hard to keep track of who was who.

Captain Marvel searches for her lost Kree friend Bean only to get sucked into an alternate universe. This new universe is your standard mirror-universe. Here, Captain Marvel is the most wanted outlaw in the galaxy (with the Guardians of the Galaxy running a close second). She has to pretend to be bad and figure out the interpersonal dynamics of everyone's mirror-self in order to get back, let alone find Bean.

The story was a bit too "paint by numbers" for me. I've read and seen lots of mirror-universe stories and this is totally standard stuff. Changing Groot into Root (he's a giant walking carrot instead of a tree) was funny, but that was the rare shining moment in a lot of dullness.

Not recommended.
