Editorial Reviews
Review
"Like an exceptional second season of a television show, MAL PRACTICE builds on what came before while taking the series in exciting new directions." -Oliver Sava, The A.V. Club
"What happens when you take TV shows like House and Fringe, get them really drunk, lock them in a room together, and blast some of Barry White's greatest hits? We'll give you a hint. It begins with 'Witch' and ends with 'Doctor'... a unique combination of spine-tingling terror and medical drama." -Ryan Rigley, MTV Splashpage
"Original. Fun. Stylish and offbeat. You won't be disappointed." -Clive Barker
"Holy ****, this is good! ...is a fun, action-packed, dark arts-laden gem of a comic, and I can't wait to read future issues." -Giaco Furino, FEARnet

Watch as The Doctor and Penny Dreadful battle a boatload of new enemies - a devilish medicine show trio, blood-sucking phantasms, vengeful Egyptian gods, golems, an assortment of beings with "glowy eyes", and Charlotte Fever, a gal with a bad case of centipede tongue.
Watch out for the sinister Surgeons! Looking not unlike the Cenobites from 'Hellraiser', they only want to HEAL YOU!
One of the things I love most about the Doc is that even when he's using the Diablosuction machine, he's never too busy to debate theology:
"The Gods are our shepherds," claims Catrina Macabrey, pathologist and the Doctor's future ex-wife.
Shepherds don't tend sheep because they're NICE GUYS. They do it for the FLEECE AND MUTTON," he replies.
Next to 'Chew' and 'Preacher', this is my favorite graphic novel series, and probably the ONLY book to ever use the phrase ...floaty cluster of umbilical guts.
I first stumbled across this breathtaking new series at a locally owned book store. I had bought the first volume there. I quickly read through it, and before the night was over, i had already went online to purchase the second volume. I was so excited to keep reading! Skybound, owned by Robert Kirkman (creator of the Walking Dead) is kick @$$ publisher house, who is in association with Image comics. The only let down was due to the poor packaging which when finally delivered, i recieved a copy with a small tear on the cover, and a semi smashed binding.
I enjoyed the overall story-arc and I especially loved how Seifert teased out the characters of Eric Gast and Penny Dreadful to make them more complex and endearing. For me, they're what makes waiting for the next installment harder to do, especially when the creators aren't sure when they'll be able to return to the story.
Witch Doctor volumes 1 and 2 are well contained, artful, and still are able to be part of a greater conversation. I recommend this series to those who enjoy sci-fi blended with horror, on top of classic American gothic literature the likes of Nathaniel Hawthorne, Edgar Allen Poe, and (of course) H.P. Lovecraft, then sprinkled with tongue-in-cheek humor.
I devoured this book and have recommended it to all my friends who have shown any slight interest in enjoyable fiction.
The only flaw I found in this book is that same feeling of let down after Christmas is over. Isn't there any more?
The next volume can't come soon enough.
If you liked the first book I would definitely suggest buying this one as it is definitely worth the read.
