Wonder Woman: Paradise Found (Wonder Woman (1987-2006)) Kindle & comiXology

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 27 ratings

Wonder Woman's world is falling to pieces. Her home of Paradise Island has faced a devastating civil war, and her mother, Queen Hippolyta, has abolished the monarchy, ending Diana's status as a princess. But the Amazon Warrior must contend with far worse in the adventures that confront her in this volume collecting WONDER WOMAN #171-177, as well as select Profile Pages from WONDER WOMAN SECRET FILES #3. Acclaimed writer/artist Phil Jimenez is joined by Adam Hughes for one of the most difficult chapters of Diana's life. This story reveals a dear friend of Diana's transformed into a deadly enemy; a new, more menacing Cheetah; an intergalactic war - with terrible consequences for our heroine; and the return of an arch-nemesis that may spell doom for the male super-heroes of the world. The relentless onslaught is almost too much for Wonder Woman to bear! Arguing with her mother becomes the least of Diana's concerns as she joins countless heroes in the battle against Imperiex. And when Circe initiates her revenge against the Amazon, the world's super-heroines join Diana in a fight against the evil witch and several other female super-villains. With battle after battle facing Wonder Woman, is there any hope that Diana can find paradise?

The book is absolutely great, the story is great, the characters are very well used ( batman, not so much but he is not the main focus, trust me), the ink is acceptable, and the writing is great as well. Characters are all over the place but no shortage of action. The package came in early in great condition. Let your imagination take off!

Collects Wonder Woman (1986) 171-177

Written by Phil Jimenez
Most pencils by Phil Jimenez
171 Starts a plot involving a new Silver Swan and a new male Cheetah, with Circe behind them.
172-173 This is interrupted because WW gets roped into the "Our Worlds at War" event. A major character dies.
174-176 The Circe-Swan-Cheetah story picks up where it left off, guest-starring lots and lots of female heroes and villains, most of whom aren't very memorable. Circe has a little purple-haired daughter named Lyta.
177 Themyscira, sacrificed in the "Our Worlds at War" event, has been rebuilt by the Greek and Bana Mighdall (Egyptian and Babylonian) goddesses. It will be home to both tribes of Amazons and open to the outside world.

The "Our Worlds at War" crossover issues don't make much sense out of the context of the event. The main threat, Imperiex, is taken care of between issues 172 and 173 in some other comic, after which the next big threat is Brainiac 13. This book is weaker compared to the previous one, but Jimenez did a reasonable job of dealing with his story getting interrupted.

I love Wonder Woman and this was best issue that I read. I love Wonder Woman's mother and how she protected her daughter

A smart capable and intelligent woman so unlike the beast Wonder Woman of the new 52. Her greatest battles and her greatest loses.... the evil of Dan Didio is seen here. Great art and great story.

One of the most magical stories from DC Comics! Wonder Woman is Nomber 1!!!! I especially like the transformation Sebastian Ballesteros undergoes as the third Cheetah to combat Wonder Woman, as well as many of the other transformations (although I may not understand why they had Green Lantern transform into a wildebeest) and fight scenes. Although I do wish Poison Ivy got more screen time. Other than that, Wonder Woman: Paradise Found is a satisfying addition and must have to many DC Comics fans!

So suspenseful and so sad. This paperback carries the scene of Hippolyta's death, which is trule heart-wrenching to read. Great issue overall, however, with the beautiful panel art and the wonderful story.
