4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 178 ratings

Collects Classic X-Men #1-23.

In 1986, Marvel launched CLASSIC X-MEN, a series that reprinted the "All-New, All-Different X-Men" era — with a twist! All-new backup stories fleshed out the 1970s tales and delved deeper into the characters' lives — and new story pages were even inserted into the reprints, expanding on key moments and sowing the seeds for future storylines! Now, all this newly created material has been collected together — complete with comparisons and text pieces explaining what was changed, what was added and why! Friendships are forged, allies are mourned and lives are transformed in these rare tales that dance between the raindrops of some of the most revered X-Men comics of all time!

I had to catch up on my back issues. This novel took me way back In time. I love it.

My brother is a fan of classic X-Men, sure it doesn't have the full stories in the graphic novel but the side by side comparison of the panels is one of the best features as is the back up stories which have one of the X-Men in a solo story and Chris Claremont is still one of the best X-Men writers!

This is more of a collector’s oddity collection than a proper comic book, with only snippets of stories shown in order to demonstrate what changed in the re-release, but it does have interesting “shorts” that aren’t found in other places.

Thanks to Chris Claremont brilliant writing this collection of stories is well worth the price. This book Dives deeper into character development Mina light on classic characters that Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created

Glad it exists as a work of... scholarship? Archaeology? An object of obsession, with diminished return.

Very interesting to see Art Adams work here (including pinups from his marvel submission packet!). Adams birthed the nineties style, Jim Lee still calls him every Father's Day!

Awesome comic! However, packaging for shipping needs improvement so that the books can’t be bent or shoved into the mailbox

I enjoyed the different storylines and the in depth character exposure. I recommend this for readers who prefer classic X-Men.

Good for the novelty. Art and stories were good yet basic in comparison. Definitely a must read for Claremont fans

5.0 out of 5 stars Excelente material

2.0 out of 5 stars Disjointed and jumpy
Reviewed in India on October 4, 2020
This is a collection of "background" stories or fillers for the actual x-men run. As such while most of the stories are great to read on their own , the run up to each story is explained by means of a short summary. This kind of structure makes it a bit of a headache to read. Just when you have emotionally invested yourself with one story and a set of characters its a 180 degree switch to another scene , character, emotions next. It also covers fair bit of the actual x-men storyline so there should be spoiler alert warnings all over! In all, this is definitely for seasoned x-men connoisseurs. This should not be your first (or second or third) x-men book.
