This is a lot of fun and though there are some similarities to the banter you might get from Teen Titans it’s all very clever and a great way to pick up where the Avengers left off. Also love the inclusion of gay characters on the frontlines and we actually get to learn more about them as people and not used as a trope— it all feels very organic. My favorite character is definitely Kate Bishop! She’s really funny and seems to be a great leader for the team. Can’t wait to read on!

Collecting the ready made classic first 12 issues, plus a special edition, of Marvel's legacy teen heroes. Full of mystery & spilling out of the "Avengers Assembled" epic, created by Allen Heinberg & Jim Cheung, these underatted characters became quite a cult sensation back in 2005. Months before the initial first issue release, Marvel promised in ads, this team wouldn't be what readers would expect & they weren't kidding. Wrestling with teen angst, sexual identity & family roots, the creators craft a tale that feels like classic Marvel, but for a modern age. Just when you think you know what each character is about, a new turn twists how you see them. One of the most shocking is learning that Patriot, has gained his super power through drug use. The same sex relationship of Hulkling & Wiccan, helped earn a 20006 GLAAD media award. a Harvey award for best new series soon followed. Due to the busy schedule of the creators, the team made sporatic appearances in various limited titles, during the Civil War era, which only fueled their appeal. Culmanting in another classic mini series Children's Crusade. The team retuned in a second volume with a membership change that didn't really recapture the magic, but this collection remains to showcase, what was special about these "fanboy Avengers". The collection also features early character sketches, plus an interview with Allan Heinberg. If you are a Marvel fan, love teen legacy heroes of just great storytelling in general. These young assemblers deserve a decent look.

It's truly a fun, interesting, and unique story that deserves high praise and is perfect for any marvel lover with relationships that feel thought out and well written for each character. Quite a fun read! Action, relationships, young people discovering their powers and their backgrounds. Cap and Shellhead trying to stop rhe kids. Lots of quips. Think of the good parts of marvel movies. That's what this book feels like.

Someone put in their review that this book depicted sex and was inappropriate for minors.
No sex here. Not even fully clothed make out scenes. I did not think there would be, it's a marvel tpb rated for teens. There are some crushes and relationships. But it's all done rather innocently and sweet. Maybe the person who wrote there was sex in this book is someone who is upset that there is a gay couple. But after reading the book, I'm not sure if the couple has slept together yet or not. I think some people see a gay couple and in their mind they automatically visualize the couple in bed.

If you want to get into the Young Avengers, start here! This comic is one of the best comics I've read and it introduces one of the best superhero teams in Marvel's history. The comic came in excellent condition.
